Mjolnir. The name alone strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies. A weapon capable of great destruction, and yet is only wieldable by those it deems worthy. However, Mjolnir is not the only weapon in the Asgardian arsenal.

Over the years Thor, as well as every other iteration of Thor, has wielded a variety of different weapons. Some are charming parodies of the Mjolnir while others are far more powerful. With Thor: Love and Thunder exploring the relationship of Thor with his weapons, it's worth looking back on all the other weapons the Thors have wielded that may be incorporated into the MCU in the future.

Stormbreaker

Thor Stormbreaker

Although most mainstream audiences today know Stormbreaker to be the result of a star forged metal with Groot's arm as a handle, it was initially a more traditional hammer wielded by none other than Beta Ray Bill. Beta Ray Bill is one of the most iconic Thors besides Thor himself.

Stormbreaker was gifted to Beta Ray Bill after his victory over Thor. Though he felt guilt for wielding the weapon of his foe, Thor had the Dwarves of Nidavellir create a hammer just for him. The Stormbreaker holds all the same properties as Mjolnir, only suited for Beta Ray Bill's style.

Frogjolnir

Loki's not the only Asgardian with a scaly alternate version. Frogjolnir itself is basically the exact same as Mjolnir, but its backstory is what makes it so hilarious. Frogjolnir was created after Thor was turned into a frog by Loki. As a frog, he helped the frogs of Puddlegulp in their battle against the rats.

Upon returning to his human form, Thor dropped his hammer. Toothgnasher accidentally tapped it with his foot, and as one of the few beings capable of damaging Uru metal, it chipped away a tiny bit of Mjolnir. This small sliver found a frog "worthy", and so it turned into a pint-sized version of Thor's iconic weapon, entirely separate from the original.

Thunderstrike

Donald Masterson's Thunderstrike in force

Eric Masterson was the host of Thor for a long time in the comics. Still, even that must come to an end, and Thor left Eric Masterson's body with Mjolnir in tow. However, Odin felt that Masterson was worthy of being a Thor in his own right. Masterson was gifted the mace Thunderstrike. On the side is engraved the words "The World Still Needs Heroes".

Thunderstrike is much like Mjolnir, but with a bit more subtlety. For starters, it's capable of turning into a cane or a necklace when not in use. Although not quite as potent as Mjolnir, it is strong enough to make Masterson a worthy protector.

The Uru Destroyer's Arm

The Uru Destroyer Arm wielding Mjolnir

After Malekith the Dark Elf severed Thor's arm and took Jarnbjorn away from him, Prince Odinson was at his lowest. However, upon returning to Asgard, he was given an arm made out of the same stuff as the Destroyer. An Uru arm, which enhances its wielder with great strength.

The Uru metal is nigh indestructible, and during the time that Thor (then known as Odinson, as he felt undeserving of the title of Thor) lost Mjolnir, the arm served well in the evening the odds against his foes. It's also a visual to convey that Thor is "broken", but at the same time, strong enough to continue his heroics.

Lightbringer

Lightbringer in Marvel comics

There have been many Thors, and one of the most interesting versions was that of Alison Blaire. Alison Blaire was part of the Thor Corps under the God Emperor Doom's regime, and her weapon is one of many Mjolnir-likes in the force, although hers is the only one with a new unique name.

For those not in the know, Alison Blaire is the alias of the mutant hero Dazzler. In addition to her own powers, she also has all the powers of Thor, and the same extends to her hammer. The engravings on Lightbringer are more elegant and ornate, befitting Blaire's powers and personality.

The Hammer of Thorion

This is what you get when you combine two of the strongest god princes in comic book history. Thorion is the Amalgamation of Marvel's Thor Odinson and DC's Orion. With the power of both Asgardian and New God's blood flowing in his veins, one needs a hammer worthy of wielding such power.

The Hammer of Thorion is infused with the powers of both Asgardian magic and the Source itself. With it, Thorion became the greatest threat to the Amalgam universe's greatest villain, Thanoseid. All of these names are ridiculous (as is the story it's from), but there's no denying that such a combination would be a potent reminder of the gods' power.

Odinsword

Odin brandishes the Odinsword in Marvel Comics.

The Odinsword is without a doubt the mightiest weapon in the Asgardian arsenal and was inherited by Thor once he ascended to Allfather status in the future. While Mjolnir is impressive, it is nothing compared to the history and power of the Odinsword.

By channeling the Odinforce, it is capable of splitting apart the planet should its wielder decide to do so. Galactus once described eating it as like eating several planets' worth of energy. The only caveat is that it also uses the life force of its wielder, but with how long-lived Asgardians are, it is a small price to pay for ultimate power.

Jarnbjorn

Jarnbjorn

Jarnbjorn was Thor Odinson's first real weapon. Sure, he's wielded swords, axes, and hammers of all kinds during his early years, but none are quite as iconic as Jarnbjorn. Called the "Wrecker of Worlds", Jarnbjorn was the ax that would carve Thor's name into the annals of Asgardian history.

With it, he faced off against the Celestial-powered En Sabah Nur (later known as Apocalypse), the earliest and strongest of the mutants. Thor enchanted Jarnbjorn with his own blood, and in doing so, gave it the godlike power to pierce a Celestial's body. Though many have wielded the ax since (all in bloody ways), Thor would always it as the only other weapon (besides Mjolnir) that felt right in his hands.
