Arguably the best moment in the Thor: Love and Thunder trick of granting Thor's powers - for a limited time only - would've been extremely helpful many times over in the Avengers adventures. This is most notably true during Earth's Mightiest Heroes' final confrontation with the Mad Titan.

It's a nifty trick that not only set up Thor: Love and Thunder's most glorious scene, but also succeeded at setting a viable limit to the extent of what the MCU's growing roster of gods can do. While Thor is one of the stronger heroes in the MCU - and has become increasingly powerful as the franchise has continued - Thor: Love and Thunder makes the limitations of his powers even more clear. As such, there's a simple reason why Thor could only pull this trick in the Thor: Love and Thunder plot.

In order to grant anyone powers, Thor needed to channel them through the Thunderbolt of Zeus - which is why he didn't use this power in Avengers: Endgame. Though the Thor: Love and Thunder cast only briefly featured Zeus, the God of Lightning's potential impact on the MCU was sufficiently teased by how Thor was able to utilize Thunderbolt. Though the two gods hail from different pantheons, this reveals much about how their powers and artifacts work and interact within the MCU. It only makes sense that the God of Thunder became more powerful when he wielded Thunderbolt, an ancient weapon that represents the will of the God of Lightning - and that he needed the Thunderbolt of Zeus to be able to use more intensive abilities.

What Happened To Zeus' Thunderbolt?

Zeus' Thunderbolt allowed Thor to grant his powers to others

The Thor: Love and Thunder plot never showed what happened to Zeus' Thunderbolt after Jane and Thor's final fight with Gorr the God Butcher. As it stands, it could still be in Eternity's realm where it was left by Thor. Considering how Thor took home both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, it's also possible that he also retrieved the Thunderbolt, which means that it could be in Valkyrie's hands. If Thor gets his hands on the ancient weapon of the Greek God Zeus again, Earth's Mightiest Heroes' go-to tank could gain a much more tactical role in any future MCU battlefield. The God of Thunder's powers are effective enough in the hands of children - but wielded by the likes of Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, or the Dora Milaje, they could be devastating.

In any case, the Thunderbolt could be a very powerful bargaining chip for any of Zeus' enemies or allies, and after the Thor: Love and Thunder plot it could be anywhere in the multiverse. This ambiguity is perhaps what makes the artifact most exciting, as while it may never appear again, an appearance down the line would be something of a game changer for whoever wields it. This is likely why the Thor: Love & Thunder post-credits scene never shows what really happened to Thunderbolt - the fate of Zeus' weapon would make for a great reveal in almost any future MCU project, especially in a scenario similar to Avengers: Endgame where its capacity to turn the tide of battle would be invaluable.
