Thor: The Dark World was the second movie with Thor as the lead character and is one of the lowest critically rated movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite the lack of acclaim, there are good things in the movie, including the cast, most of which returned from the first movie. This included the Warriors Three, Sif, and Loki, while Thor had to go into battle against the Dark Elf Malakith for the survival of the Nine Realms. Here's how the screentime of all the characters panned out.

Least - Hogun (1:00)

Hogun in the middle of a battle.

In the first Thor movie, the Warriors Three came to Earth to stand by Thor and help him battle with The Destroyer and Loki. They were Thor's most loyal allies in his wars, and that made it surprising that they were barely anywhere to be seen in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok.

Hogun was only in Thor: The Dark World for one minute of screentime. He battled alongside Thor in protecting the Nine Realms, but Thor told him to remain with his people and protect them.

Least - Fandral (2:00)

Fandral looking prepared for battle.

Much like Hogun. Fandral was not in Thor: The Dark World for very long, with only two minutes of screentime. Also, like Hogun, his screentime was fighting alongside Thor in the battle to protect the Nine Realms.

While Hogun remained with his people during this giant war, Fandral remained with Thor and even went against the All-Father Odin's decree and helped Thor make his way to defeat the Dark Elves and beat Malekith once and for all.

Least - Richard (2:45)

Richard having lunch with Jane Foster and Darcey.

Richard Madison was a minor side character in Thor: The Dark World, but one that played an important part in Jane Foster's life. Richard was a man who went on a date with Jane while unsure of her future with Thor.

Jane went out with him, but it ended up bad because Thor showed back up, and Jane left Richard almost instantly to return to the God of Thunder. Richard had almost three minutes of screentime before Darcey showed up and interrupted the date.

Least - Volstagg (2:45)

Volstagg and the Warriors Three at the ready.

The third member of the Warriors Three had more screentime than any of his brethren. He was in the movie for two minutes, 45 seconds, and ed Thor's side in beating the Dark Elves and Malekith, even with Odin not agreeing with Thor on this course of action.

Volstagg lasted longer than the other two Warriors Three because it was partially his responsibility to help remove the Aether. While the Warriors Three had less screentime in this movie, they got it worse in Thor: Ragnarok, when all three died during their only appearance in that movie.

Least - Sif (3:15)

Lady Sif looking at Thor in Asgard.

Lady Sif was one of the most important female characters in the first Thor when it came to Asgardians, but her total run time was only eight minutes in that movie, less than even Darcey Lewis.

However, it was even worse in Thor: The Dark World. Lady Sif faced the same lack of importance as the Warriors Three, with only just over three minutes of screentime as she helped Thor battle Malekith and the Dark Elves. To add to the insult, she didn't even appear in Thor: Ragnarok.

Most - Malekith (8:45)

Malekith looking into the distance in Thor: The Dark World.

The villain in Thor: The Dark World was the King of the Dark Elves, Malekith. With the Bifrost broken in the first movie, Malekith led his Dark Elves to attempt to conquer the Nine Realms.

However, once the Asgardians repaired the bridge, Thor and his companions ed the war to battle Malekith and his forces. Despite being the main villain in the movie, Malekith only appeared on the screen for eight minutes, 45 seconds.

Most - Odin (9:00)

Odin talking to Thor in Asgard.

Odin was part of the disagreement with his son, Thor, concerning how to deal with the Dark Elves and the malevolent Malekith, and that strife played out in Thor: The Dark World. Between the squabbles over how to take the war to Malekith and his disapproval of Jane Foster as his son's love interest, Odin was in the movie for just nine minutes.

However, this also resulted in the final scene in the movie where it turned out that Odin was gone, replaced by Loki, who had begun impersonating his father to take control of Asgard.

Most - Loki (17:30)

Thor and Loki fighting side-by-side.

Loki took a turn in Thor: The Dark World. After playing the villain in Thor and The Avengers, Loki opened this movie imprisoned and locked away, only his mother, Frigga, visiting him.

However, when the chips were down, and it was time to protect Asgard from the Frost Giants, Loki sided with Thor and seemed to sacrifice his own life to save Asgard, although that was only a ploy by the Trickster God. In all, Loki was in the movie for 17 minutes, 30 seconds.

Most - Jane Foster (25:00)

Jane Foster walking with Thor in Asgard.

Jane Foster moved ahead of Loki when it comes to screentime between Thor and Thor: The Dark World. This is mostly because Thor took her back to Asgard to meet his parents and gain their approval.

While that didn't go as well as hoped. It also led Jane to end up with the Aether in her body, one of the Infinity Stones. Jane ended up playing a large part in the battle between Thor, Loki, and Malekith, the King of the Dark Elves and was onscreen in the movie for 25 minutes. Jane sat out the next movie and will return in Thor: Love & Thunder.

Most - Thor (35:00)

Thor in the middle of a battle.

Much like the first Thor movie, Thor was onscreen more than any other character. However, in this second movie, Thor was on screen for eight minutes less and only appeared for 35 minutes in a 115-minute movie, a shockingly low 35-percent of the total run time for the main hero of the story.

He rebounded drastically in the third movie, Thor: Ragnarok, where his screentime jumped to an impressive 58 minutes.
