While the idea of a Jon Snow spinoff was initially frustrating to me, I see an advantage to HBO pursuing some series set chronologically after Game of Thrones. Especially now that HOTD continues to tie its story to GOT through the Aegon's Dream prophecy, and now that Aegon's Conquest is a series in development, it seems like HBO wants to have some underlying narrative to the franchise. Unfortunately, we already know the ending of that narrative, and the divisive GOT season 8 detracts value from any mentions of Aegon's Dream and "The Song of Ice & Fire." Suppose a Jon Snow series could explore the White Walkers a bit further and expand on GOT for the purpose of giving the franchise a more complete picture. It might be worth it.
