Jude Law recently offered an update on Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes 3, confirming a new script has been written for it, but that he himself has not yet read it. At this point, with nearly 13 years gone since the last movie came out, I'm starting to doubt the chances of the movie ever being released. Warner Bros. has notably been buckling down on taking risks with even its more profitable franchises, as evidenced by the cancellations of new Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo movies, while Downey Jr. elected to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his first post-Avengers: Endgame attempt at a franchise with Dolittle flopped hard. While his wife and producing partner Susan Downey has frequently assured Sherlock Holmes 3 is a priority for Team Downey, that's starting to feel like a bit of a stretch.
