While there may be a number of spinoffs in the works for the original series, I honestly don't think the Yellowstone franchise will ever be able to fully escape Kevin Costner's shadow. Fans of the show were hypercritical of the second half of its final season, despite playing out generally to what Taylor Sheridan had planned for the show's ending, only sped up, and Costner's ongoing spotlight with the Horizon: An American Saga franchise will keep his Western genre ties serving as a competition, of sorts, for Sheridan. Additionally, considering one of the next big spinoffs will focus on Beth and Rip, essentially serving as Yellowstone season 6, who were arguably the two most loyal to Costner's John Dutton III, his legacy will be felt even larger in that show than the others.
