Avengers: Twilight is a grim series that explores a dark potential future for the Marvel Universe. Among the final survivors of the Marvel heroes is the Hulk, who has been turned into an unwilling monster by the Red Skull. To defeat him once and for all, Thor is forced to hold the Hulk underwater with Mjolnir on his chest. Unworthy to lift the hammer and resurface, Hulk eventually runs out of air and drowns. It's a brutal ending for the character, but one that might not work on the MCU Hulk. Films like The Avengers suggested the Hulk survived major blows to his brain before, and I just don't think the MCU Hulk could die from this sort of blow without recovering or adapting.
