One of the the first Thunderbolts* movie trailer, exploring one of the darker teams in the Marvel canon. However, as a teaser poster was also shared for the Thunderbolts* movie, it didn't take long for a certain character to become the subject of conversation, or more so, their hand.

In a new interview with Collider, Lewis Pullman, who is playing "Bob" in Thunderbolts*, was asked about the big theory that Marvel Studios' poster for the new film may have accidentally given his character six fingers, which caused theories about the potential usage of A.I. However, Pullman sets the record straight about what is going on with his hand in the Thunderbolts* poster with the following response:

I’ve heard about the six-finger thing. But if you look closely, there’s actually no mistakes going on. I actually spent some time because I was like, 'Did they give me a sixth finger?' But they didn’t. It’s just cropped at the right point where it looks like there’s an extra tip happening or something. But that’s about it. I love that.

Why Everyone Thought Sentry Had Six Fingers In The Thunderbolts* Poster

When the Thunderbolts* poster was released, a lot of fans took to X.com speculating online whether something had gone wrong in its design. The poster features Yelena Belova surrounded by U.S. Agent, Ghost, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, Taskmaster, and Bob, all fighting each other. While it is clear that most of it was a photoshoot for some of the Thunderbolts* cast , there were obviously a handful of actors who were inserted into the final version of the poster.

Even though Bob is squeezed into the left bottom, a weird cropping occurs on the left side of his hand. That resulted in the effect that there was a sixth finger for Pullman's character, leading to accusations that AI had been used. Given Hollywood's eager adoption of the technology, the reaction was somewhat understandable around the Thunderbolts* poster.

Our Take On The Thunderbolts* Poster

The Thunderbolts* Cast

While it is understandable why some thought that Bob accidentally had six fingers in the Thunderbolts* poster, this is simply a case of accidentally misleading photo editing and a trick of perspective. However, it's still encouraging to see the MCU audience showing their disinterest in AI usage, especially after the big Hollywood strikes in 2023, where artists have had to take on the studios for wanting to rely more on AI than actual actors and writers.
