Thunderbolts*'s cast of obscure characters leaves a major Marvel hero behind as the film climbs the MCU's box office rankings.

According to Thunderbolts*'s ending has the team become the MCU's New Avengers, putting its characters on the Hulk's shelf, and the film's box office now matches that.

What Thunderbolts* ing The Incredible Hulk's Box Office Means

The MCU's Latest Team Could The Franchise's Other Recent Release

With Thunderbolts* ing the $300 million milestone and leaving both The Marvels and The Incredible Hulk behind, the MCU movie continues to climb the franchise's box office rankings. At the moment, there is around $90 million separating the film from the MCU's first movie of 2025, Anthony Mackie's Captain America: Brave New World. While the Captain America movie did not receive the same level of praise from critics and fans that Thunderbolts* has, Brave New World is part of what is arguably the best solo franchise in the MCU.

The MCU's Lowest-Grossing Movies

Movie

Box Office Total

The Marvels

$199,706,250

The Incredible Hulk

$265,573,859

Thunderbolts*

$325,727,643

Captain America: The First Avenger

$370,569,776

Black Widow

$379,751,131

Eternals

$401,731,759

Captain America: Brave New World

$415,069,466

As such, Thunderbolts* will face quite the test to see if the movie can manage to sur Captain America: Brave New World's global box office total. At the moment, Thunderbolts* stands as the third-lowest-grossing movie in the MCU, but that could soon change, with another Captain America movie in its sights. Chris Evans' MCU debut, Captain America: The First Avenger, stands at $370.6 million. Thunderbolts* needs around $45 million to it, and if the film presents nice holds throughout the week, it could achieve the mark with its third weekend.

Our Take On Thunderbolts* ing The Incredible Hulk's Box Office

The 2025 Movie Deserves To Beat The 2008 Entry

I believe that Thunderbolts* is a better and more entertaining movie than The Incredible Hulk. It is good to see that a team of obscure Marvel characters can rise to the occasion and beat the box office of one of the franchise's biggest heroes. That said, Thunderbolts* still has a steep hill to climb for its box office to be considered good. The film needs to be in the $360-450 million range to break even and turn a profit. Adding to it, after Captain America: Brave New World underperformed, Thunderbolts* needs to at least it to be a success.
