By now, you all must have realized that it’s the Kardashians' world and we’re all just living in it. Not only is the Kardashian-Jenner family one of the most influential families in the world right now, their total net worth is well into the billions. But that’s not surprising considering the youngest sibling, Kylie, is just 22 and is already worth a billion dollars. And while all famous people have naysayers, only some of them have really funny comedy sketch shows aimed at them, in pure good humor. Yes, pop culture has been taking consistent digs at the Kardashians, but that’s just one of the ways fans can cope with their overwhelming and inexplicable success.
Saturday Night Live has often made way for some hearty jokes and quite hysterical take-downs of the Kardashians and even Kanye West aka Mr. Kim Kardashian, but the family has always been sporting about it. Millennial fans, especially the ones who have grown up with the family, are always looking for ways to explain the enormous influence the Kardashians have had over them and their contour routines. And humor is always a welcome tool. But which are the funniest and sharpest Kardashian jokes in SNL history? Let’s find out:
The Gaga Conundrum
when SNL actually brought in Lady Gaga to shade Kim and Kanye? That was way too bold! But that’s just how good television gets made. So, Kim and Kanye are hosting their morning talk show and actually invite an Apple Store genius named Karen (a bespectacled Lady Gaga) to be their guest.
Kanye being Kanye actually tries to pull off a 'Who Wore it Better' between Karen and a Givenchy-clad Kim, only to be savagely shaded by Gaga for their extreme styling picks. No disrespect to Kimye, but this is the kind of drama fans live for!
In The Spirit Of Christmas
SNL never even gave the Kardashians a break for the holidays and actually brought in Abby Elliott as Khloe Kardashian, Vanessa Byer as Kourtney and Nasim Pedrad as Kim dressed in really festive numbers to usher in the holiday cheer in the form of a sing-song.
And things obviously took a predictable detour. “I sat on Santa’s lap and told him what I wanted,” a smiling Kourtney tells the audience. “I did the same with Reggie Bush. I got a Rolex!” Kim replied. That’s almost too much information to handle!
Just Being Kendall
Saturday Night Live obviously re-created the controversial soft drink ad with Kendall Jenner and put its own spin to it. In the sketch, the director of the commercial runs the idea past his friends a few minutes before the shoot is about to start.
All of his relatives, his friends and their neighbors tell him to not go ahead with what is clearly the worst idea ever! But the poor director is left with no choice but to go on floors with the script! Fair warning, if you know what happened after Kendall’s commercial was aired, the SNL sketch is almost too hard to watch!
Is That Nicki?
Only true-blue SNL fans will this, but pop sensation Nicki Minaj once appeared on SNL’s Weekend Update as Kim Kardashian. In a white textured dress and loose black waves, Nicki looked almost unrecognizable. Nicki, we mean Kim, appeared on the show to explain her internet-breaking 2014 photoshoot -- yeah, the one where she balances a champagne glass on her backside?
Kim claims that the shoot was misinterpreted because the editors forgot to put the background in each of them. “You see how my rear end is oily? It’s a warning about the Keystone pipeline!” Kim chimes! Oh, SNL!
Wedding Planning In Session
Have you ever wondered if Kanye was a total groomzilla about his wedding? SNL imagined one of Kimye’s wedding planning sessions with Andy Samberg posing as a high-profile wedding planner. “So, Justin, what can you reveal about our wedding?” Kim (Pedrad) asks her wedding planner. “First off, every guest will arrive at the venue in a golden rickshaw pulled by the beautiful and strapping Khloe Kardashian!” he exclaimed.
If that wasn’t enough, Kanye went on to show us the design of a leather tuxedo he planned to wear at the ceremony. “It’s what I believe Jesus would have worn if he had access to a kilometer of leather!” he revealed. So, you know, regular Kardashian stuff.
A Kardashian Wedding Special
One of the most hilarious Weekend Update editions featured Pedrad as Kim who’s invited to talk about her sister Khloe Kardashian’s recent wedding, which was a ratings bonanza for their show. Seth Meyers asks Kim what she can reveal about the nuptials and Kim replies, “There were a lot of famous people there, like Ryan Seacrest, Kelly Osbourne, my butt, it was my plus one!”
You know how on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the sisters are always criticizing each other for being on their phones? SNL’s sketch gave us a very realistic glimpse when Kim started texting on her phone in the middle of the sketch and Seth tried to get her attention like an exasperated dad!
It’s A Supermodel’s World
One of the most creative SNL sketches was one where the show actually imagines how some of the Kardashian spin-offs would look and they even bought in some of the Kardashian-Jenner clan’s famous friends, like the Hadid sisters (played by Kate McKinnon and Gal Gadot). In the show titled Kendall’s World, the jet-setting supermodel can’t find her way around her giant L.A. mansion because she hardly spends any time there!
Another spin-off was literally titled Where’s Kanye? “You know the moments on the Kardashians (show) where Kanye clearly doesn’t want to be on camera? Now, there’s a show just for that! Is he hanging back because he’s shy or he doesn’t want to be associated with the show?”
What Would Kris Say?
We still can’t believe SNL actually poked fun of Momager and OG Kardashian Kris Jenner. In the Kardashian Divorce Special sketch, SNL puts a fun spin on what could have been a divorce special episode on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
The sketch has Kim coming clean about her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries and the eventual divorce and featured a perfect Kristen Wiig as Kris Jenner, in what we think is one of her best stints till date. “I know a lot of people think that Kim got married just to earn over 17 million dollars. But that’s not true, she also got married for attention,” Momma Jenner chimed.
Another Divorce?
Bruce and Kris Jenner’s divorce was … well, only mildly surprising. But we’re so happy Kris has found love again with Cory Gamble and Kaitlyn Jenner has made her dreams come true. But that didn’t stop SNL from pulling punches at the former happy couple.
In a Weekend Update, Seth Meyers and Cecily Strong did an entire segment with just Jenner jokes. “Bruce and Kris Jenner confirmed this week that they are getting divorced. No word yet on who gets to keep the haircut.” “Bruce and Kris Jenner confirmed this week. That they have decided to start looking like other people!” quipped Cecily and Seth.
For The Love Of Plastic
Fans have come to love the Kardashians and the many ways they have decided to switch up their looks. And as much as they ire the beauty icons, they sure don’t mind appreciating some relatable humor at their cosmetic surgeries.
In a Weekend Update on SNL, Michael Che made a savage joke about the family’s love for plastic surgery. “It has been reported that more than 400 million pieces of plastic have washed up in a remote island in Indian ocean. For reference, here’s what 400 million pieces of plastic look like,” quipped Che, as the screen switched to feature all the of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, including Kris!
