While Timothée Chalamet hasn't been around for too long, he has certainly made an impact on the film world. 2017 was a breakout year for the 23-year-old American actor, as he starred in Lady Bird, Hostiles, and Call Me By Your Name. His role in Call Me By Your Name also earned him an Oscar nomination, making him the third-youngest actor to have ever been nominated for the coveted award. Chalamet has certainly shown that, despite his age, he is a force to be reckoned with in the acting world and his stock is certain to rise to astronomical heights.

15 Hot Summer Nights (2018) - 43%

2018's Hot Summer Nights, was an ambitious coming-of-age film that didn't impress critics as much as Chalamet's other movies. He portrays a recent high school graduate who ends up falling into the underground world of drug dealing.
While the movie was praised for its strong young cast, cinematography, and style; it was also criticized for its cliché and predictable story. But the intense tale might make it worth seeking out for die-hard fans of Chalamet.

Another movie in Chalamet's filmography that isn't quite as high-profile is One & Two. The thriller stars Chalamet and Kiernan Shipka as two siblings with supernatural abilities who have been kept away from the outside world by their parents.
The main downfall of the movie appears to have been its sense of direction and lack of an enthralling villain character. The movie did not live up to the promise of its initial premise, yet there were some who found the lead performances effective, and the movie provided a more personal look at a superhero origin story.

A Rainy Day In New York is a 2019 American rom-com from director Woody Allen. Chalamet and Elle Fanning star as a young couple whose trip to New York City puts their relationship through plenty of struggles. The movie was barely seen, as it was quickly shelved due to public condemnation of Allen.
Despite the controversy, many critics felt that there was nothing too special about the movie and that it falls far short of Allen's more successful work. However, many critics did point to the performances from Chalamet, Fanning, and the rest of the cast as adding some charm.
12 Beautiful Boy (2018) - 68%

2018's Beautiful Boy is an emotionally charged movie that tells the turbulent story of a father struggling with his son's substance abuse. Steve Carell plays the father, with Chalamet as his son battling addiction.
Critics praised Beautiful Boy for the strong performances of both Chalamet and Carell. This helped to add some impact to the story that some felt lacked the emotional strength that was clearly needed. The result is an intense and challenging drama.

Chalamet ed the ensemble for the brutal western Hostiles from director Scott Cooper. Set in 1892, the movie stars Christmas Bale as a reluctant Union captain as he escorts a Cheyenne war chief and his family from an army base in New Mexico, back to their land in Montana. Chalamet s the likes of Jesse Plemons and Jonathan Majors as the small company of men following Bale.
The story was seen as somewhat uneven by some critics, which made it hard to be fully engaged. But Cooper's strong visual sense and a central performance from Christian Bale in one of his underrated roles helped to elevate it to a gripping and intense western adventure.

Netflix's The King sees Timothée Chalamet take on the role of Hal, a reluctant heir to the English throne. Hal has spent most of his life living among the commoners, but after his father dies, Hal is forced to become King Henry V. The film follows Hal as he attempts to learn the politics of the court and correct the sins of his father.
While some critics felt the overall movie doesn't add up to anything overly impressive, there are some standout aspects to applaud. Chalamet's lead performance as the brave yet arrogant young ruler was seen as one of these positive elements, as was the movie's rich take on the source material.
9 Interstellar (2014) - 73%

2014's Interstellar was another thrilling visual masterpiece from British director Christopher Nolan. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as an engineer who leads a team of scientists and explorers into the cosmos in order to find a habitable planet for humans away from earth. Chalamet has a small role in the first act as the son McConaughey leaves behind on Earth.
The movie was seen by most critics as another achievement for Nolan, combining strong visual elements with a thought-provoking story. While they acknowledge some of the ideas make for one of Nolan's most confusing movies, it is still the kind of thrill that audiences have come to expect from Nolan.
8 The French Dispatch (2021) - 75%

Chalamet ed the star-studded cast of Wes Anderson's anthology movie The French Dispatch. The movie focuses on the titular magazine rule by expatriate journalists dedicated to interesting stories. Chalamet plays a young revolutionist who is the subject of one of said stories.
Critics found that those who enjoy the distinct and charming aesthetics of Anderson's previous movies will enjoy The French Dispatch. Many also applauded the movie's heart and humor while also serving as an odd loving ode to journalism.
7 Bones And All (2022) 82%

Chaalmet's most recent movie is one of his most intriguing. Bones and All is a love story between Lee (Chalamet) and Maren (Taylor Russell), two outcasts who travel across America together, surviving by their own means and attempting to outrun their dark pasts.
The shocking horror elements of the movie might make Bones and All a difficult movie for some fans to endure, according to critics. But they also insist that it is worth getting past those aspects for the rich love story with thought-provoking ideas.
6 Dune (2021) - 83%

Based Dune is an epic sci-fi adventure starring Chalamet as Paul Atreides, the son of a royal family. When Paul's father is given the position of leading a volatile desert planet, Paul soon finds himself in the midst of an interplanetary conspiracy.
Even with director Denis Villeneuve splitting the massive first book into two parts, many critics acknowledged that the movie struggles at times with the dense story. However, they also insisted those issues were overshadowed by the visual brilliance and engrossing experience of the movie.
