This holiday, treating its workers and drivers unfairly. In trying to deliver their orders, drivers have been reported skipping rest and lunch breaks. Some have also said they buckle their seat belts behind them and also by other safety measures just to meet their delivery quotas.

Drivers usually have it worse during the holiday season as there are more orders to deliver and shorter hours before it becomes dark. So it is not unusual for drivers to work late into the night, until 10 PM in some cases. Some of those who work late have had pretty terrible experiences, as there are cases where they have been mistaken for robbers. Amazon makes holiday shopping easier, but it's often unfortunately at the expense of warehouse workers and drivers.

While some customers are kind enough to tip their drivers, most don't. Apart from there not being an easy way to tip delivery drivers, anyone who doesn't tip can't be blamed because, in the past, Amazon has used customer tips to subsidize payments for its workers. With Amazon's new Alexa feature, tipping a delivery driver is super easy. All the customer has to do is simply say, "Alexa, thank my driver," and the driver that delivered the customer's most recent package will be notified of the customer's appreciation with a $5 tip.

Limited To The United States

To give delivery drivers a tip, say the command “Alexa, thank my driver” to an Alexa-enabled device tied to the Amazon that made the order. This can be an Echo smart speaker or Echo Show display. It also works if a customer has the Alexa mobile app or Amazon Shopping app. It is important to note that the feature only works in the United States. But if it is successful, Amazon may roll out this feature in other regions.

Delivery drivers will get an extra $5 from Amazon for every appreciation message they receive. Amazon says it will do this for the first 1 million thank-you notes received for a total of $5 million. In addition, the top five drivers that receive the most messages during the period will be gifted a $10,000 reward, and an extra $10,000 will be donated to a charity of their choice. The promo has already begun, but Amazon doesn't say when it will end.
