The latest update for Respawn just recently added a permanent duos mode after countless requests from the community.

Respawn has had its mainline Titanfall series on the back burner ever since the surprise launch of Apex Legends early last year. Although the games take place in the same universe, the battle royale-style spinoff immediately exploded in popularity and dwarfed the modest success of its predecessor, Titanfall 2. Nonetheless, many longtime fans still consider Titanfall 2 to be Respawn's best game, and are always on the lookout for any hints about the future of the series. One of those hints may have just arrived as part of a map update for Apex Legends.

An Apex Legends dataminer called Shrugtal recently uncovered several clues in the game's code that pointed to a number of new teasers included in updates. Apparently, the first of those teasers showed up last week on the World's Edge map. A small data device was found on a desk at the Dome area of the map, and while it doesn't appear to activate anything when picked up (at least for now), it bears the logo of the villainous ARES Division from Titanfall 2. The device mentions "ground level entry" to Singh Labs, which is an area of the King's Canyon map, and other "sub-level room connections."

ARES Division was the antagonistic organization that the player fought against in Titanfall 2's outstanding campaign. As a militarized science branch of the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation, the ARES Division was trying to reconstruct an alien superweapon capable of obliterating whole planets. Though the player destroyed the weapon and foiled its plans in Titanfall 2, ARES Division is still active in the Titanfall universe. Shrugtal speculates that there will be one of these ARES devices in each of the first three teaser phases leading up to Season 5. They say that the next one should drop today, April 19, and that there should be "a big surprise" if all three are collected in one match.

There's no guarantee that these teases are related to anything other than Season 5 of Apex Legends, but one certainly more Titanfall references in Apex Legends, leading to a lot of speculation about a possible Titanfall 3. Respawn is more successful than ever thanks to their work on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and it would be wonderful if that success was paid forward by giving legacy fans what they want.
