It won't be long before the final months of 2023 are here, and DC Comics is giving fans a look at the big things it has in store for December. In addition to Titans-centric crossover event "Beast World" continues with a slew of new one-shots and tie-in issues.
With beasts rampaging through the streets and a world conqueror in the sky, the Titans must do all they can to save humanity. But as heroes and villains alike are infected, will the team stay clear of the spores or become part of the threat? And as the world rages, can Raven discover a way to save Beast Boy?
The main title of the event, Titans: Beast World, continues with its second issue by Tom Taylor, Ivan Reis, and Danny Miki. The issue's cover and variants show more of Beast Boy's terrifying Starro the Conqueror-like form. Reis and Miki's cover shows Gar as a giant green starfish monster that looms ominously in the background as a mutated Black Adam stands over the bodies of the Titans. Kendrick Lim's cover shows the Starro Beast Boy standing over other converted beast people. And Cyborg fights off the spores his friend is producing in a variant by Björn Barends.
Beast Boy Transforms the World in Horrifying New Covers
The Titans have been through a lot lately. Not only did they nearly lose Garfield after he was shot by Deathstroke during Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, but the team was given the chance to step up and become the DC Universe's premier hero team after the Justice League disbanded. Garfield has dealt with some lingering trauma since his near-assassination, and things are only going to get worse for the hero with the "Beast World" crossover, which will see Garfield push his powers past their limits to stop a sinister being known as the Necrostar.
It's been known that Beast Boy is going to turn into a giant starfish much like Starro the Conqueror to stop the Necrostar. It's also been known that he'd similarly use spores that would transform hero and villain alike into fearsome creatures due to Beast Boy's unique animal powers. But these covers reveal the extent of this transformation. The Gar that fans know and love is nonexistent as this monster rampages across the DC Universe. These covers show just how large a task the Titans are facing if they want to get their friend back.
Can the Titans Save Beast Boy from His Monstrous New Form?
Granted, the Titans have faced terrifying odds before. But Beast Boy's radical transformation is going to be the team's first serious worldwide crisis since they replaced the Justice League. It'd be bad enough if the world was endangered by a powerful threat, but the team is also going to have to find a way to bring Gar back as well. Beast Boy is absolutely unrecognizable in his new Starro form and his spores are changing the DC Universe for the worse. Can the Titans figure out a way to save the world and their friend, or is Gar going to lose himself to this new horrific body? Fans can see what will become of Beast Boy in Titans: Beast World #2, on sale December 12th.
