WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for TITANS #15!

Titans and the entire DC hero community. Yet, their duo appears on the brink of evolving into a throuple, setting the stage for the Titans' latest love triangle. What makes this twist even more intriguing is that this new dynamic could potentially outshine the death-defying bond between Beast Boy and Raven that fans have cherished for years.

Tom Taylor, Lucas Meyer, and Adriano Lucas bring the Dark-Winged Queen storyline to a powerful conclusion in Titans #15. As the Titans pick up their fight against Raven’s dark half and the world-ending threat of Trigon, tension runs high. In a bold move, Beast Boy distracts the Dark-Winged Queen by flirting with her, allowing Tempest to strike her crown and free Raven from the gemstone prison that has held her captive for much of the arc.

Now freed, Raven prepares to face her dark counterpart. However, what promises to be an epic showdown transforms into something unexpected—the beginning of a new romantic dynamic between the two empaths and Beast Boy.

Upon being freed, Raven immediately confronts the Dark-Winged Queen, vowing that she will see both of them destroyed before allowing the other to imprison her again. However, Raven’s threats are quickly interrupted when Beast Boy flies between them and exclaims, “Don’t hurt her!” Both empaths are taken aback by Garfield’s interference and defense of the Dark-Winged Queen, especially the queen herself. Beast Boy then pleads with them to stop fighting, saying, “Before you tear yourself apart, if you care about me at all, can we just talk? Please…” In this moment, a new dynamic begins to take shape among the three.

What is particularly intriguing about Gar’s interruption is that it reveals his genuine care for both Ravens. His earlier flirting with the Dark-Winged Queen may have been heartfelt rather than merely a distraction for Tempest to strike. As the three talk, it becomes increasingly clear that they all care for one another. The Dark-Winged Queen refrains from fighting, and Garfield points out that, despite her title, she hasn’t actually harmed anyone. Raven acknowledges this truth and agrees. This interaction is filled with intense emotions, healthy communication, vulnerability, and forgiveness, making it feel more like the beginning of a romance than anything else.

The discussion among the three eventually leads the Dark-Winged Queen to it that she doesn’t want to follow the world-conquering destiny laid out for her by Trigon. After this ission, Beast Boy addresses the elephant in the room, pointing out that the Ravens have broken themselves in two instead of embracing their wholeness. His words encourage them to reunite, but he ultimately leaves the decision up to them. Both Ravens acknowledge the truth in his statement, feeling the emptiness of being two halves and recognizing they are less because of it. However, they still harbor reservations about merging and becoming whole again.

Their main reservation is that Gar won’t like the version of themselves they become after merging. In response, Garfield swoops in with reassurance, declaring that no matter the outcome, he won’t be going anywhere. This statement serves as a declaration of love, made even more powerful by his holding both Ravens’ hands, emphasizing his affection for each of them—or, more accurately, for every part of Raven. Thus, with Beast Boy acting as the bridge, this moment reads as a beautiful love story among the three characters, albeit an unconventional one, given that two sides of the love triangle are Raven.

With Beast Boy’s encouragement, both Ravens merge, becoming one. It’s implied that this new Raven is different from both the version fans know and the Dark-Winged Queen persona, but in a positive way. The end result of the transformation becomes evident when Starfire asks if she is still Raven, to which the iconic Titan responds, “I am. Just… more so,” reassuring everyone that she remains their friend. By the end, it’s clear that the original Raven and the Dark-Winged Queen now coexist, suggesting that any romance between Raven and Beast Boy could still be viewed as part of a throuple dynamic.
