A gameplay trailer for TMNT: Shredder's Revenge was revealed back in March 2021, with its release now set for 2022.
The beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise began as a comic book series, detailing the lives of four mutant turtles who are trained in the ways of martial arts. The bizarre premise and lovable protagonists quickly brought the franchise into the world of video games, with a number of releases over the years. A 1989 release on the Nintendo Entertainment System was notable for its difficulty, while a multiplayer side-scrolling arcade game released the same year was adored by fans and gamers. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge will bring the rebellious reptiles to PC and Nintendo Switch and recreate nostalgic beat-em-up action.
A new gameplay trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, revealed at Gamescom 2021 and posted to YouTube by publisher Dotemu, reveals April O'Neil as a playable character. A long-running ing character and close ally of the adolescent warriors, O'Neil brings her reporter gear and iconic yellow jumpsuit into battle as the game's fifth playable hero. Other new mechanics revealed in the Gamescom trailer include team attacks and the ability to revive allies using deliciously cheesy pizza.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games were once beloved by fans and gamers, the franchise has recently had a series of bad video game releases. This decline in quality can largely be attributed to deadlines, as recent TMNT titles were developed to tie into other projects such as cartoons or films. Classic games, such as the Nintendo Entertainment System and arcade releases, instead stood apart as their own distinct projects. With Tribute Games' beat-em-up being similarly standalone, the release of another quality TMNT game may be on the horizon.
