record-shattering Spider-Man: No Way Home last December, Holland is one of the biggest stars in the world. The actor also recently starred in another big franchise hit, Sony's Uncharted. Outside of Uncharted and the MCU, Holland has appeared in films like The Lost City of Z, The Devil All The Time, Chaos Walking, and Cherry. Branching out from his movie work, Holland is next set to appear in a series for Apple TV+ called The Crowded Room.
The show is said to be an anthology series about real people who have struggled and learned to live with various forms of mental illness throughout history. In the series, Holland will play Billy Milligan, the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to dissociative personality disorder. In addition to Holland, the series stars Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Lane, Emmy Rossum, Christopher Abbott, and Emma Laird. The Crowded Room marks the second time Holland has collaborated with Apple after the Anthony and Joe Russo film Cherry.
New images, courtesy of Digital Spy, provide a first look at Holland in costume, sporting a '70s outfit and long hair. The set photos show Holland standing on a dirty city sidewalk littered with garbage and also show the actor chatting with Lane between takes. The set looks distinctively '70s and features posters for Bob Marley and the Wailers in addition to a few retro cars.

The set photos don't provide any real hints about what type of scene Holland is filming with Lane, but it's clear that great attention has been paid to capturing the 1970s environment. The Crowded Room marks quite a departure for Holland, given that so much of his time recently has been spent working within the confines of the MCU and big franchise properties. That isn't to say that the actor is a stranger to period pieces, however, having appeared in The Devil All The Time, Pilgrimage, The Lost City of Z, and In the Heart of the Sea, all of which take place at various throughout history.
After The Crowded Room, Holland's IMDb page would suggest that the actor doesn't have anything lined up at the moment. Shortly after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actor opened up about his future in the MCU as Spider-Man, saying at one point that he might take a break from acting for a while. If true, The Crowded Room, which currently does not have a release date but is expected to release on Apple TV+ at some point in 2023, has the potential to be the last thing audiences see Tom Holland in for at least a short while.
