"Always leave them wanting more" — P.T. Barnum's famous quote certainly applies to Netflix's addictive hit reality show Too Hot to Handle, which premiered in April 2020 and developed quite a ionate fan base in the process. Since there were only eight, 40-minute episodes in season one, it's a quick binge, and the problem with quick binges is that they're over pretty quickly. So it's understandable that the show's fans are eager to find out when new episodes will be coming.
From the premise of the show, it's not hard to understand why this show became such a hit, especially in the middle of a pandemic, when many people are looking to live vicariously through other people's fun. The show takes place at a fabulous, beachside luxury resort where ten young, horny, and commitment-phobic people in their early twenties are told they're not there to just hang out and hook up — in fact, any type of flirting, kissing, or any other form of sexual intimacy is forbidden and will lose them thousands of dollars in prize money. It's a catch, which is what made it such compelling television.
As of January 2021, Netflix has not officially ordered a second season of Too Hot To Handle. However, this could change soon, and on that front, there may just be some good news on the horizon. former Season 1 contestant sca Farago whether there would be a new season coming, and she hinted that there is currently something in the works.
Of course, these contestants sign ironclad non-disclosure agreements with some serious penalties if they're breached, so fans understand all the hesitancy to just come right out and say it. Despite some serious obstacles, it is possible, especially if it's being filmed in the Southern hemisphere (like Australia, where the current season of Name that Tune was filmed), where it's currently spring. Considering this post was made just over a week before Thanksgiving in the U.S., and speculating that the producers probably would have wanted to be done by the time the holiday season rolled around, they would have had to have started filming in September or October 2020. This post would likely have come around the end of filming.
So while there is no official word from Netflix at this time about a second season of Too Hot To Handle, it's possible the season has been filmed already. Of course, it's just as possible the second season hasn't been filmed yet. So if you happen to see a casting call that reads, "All those who believe that they are amongst the hottest people on the planet, and would like a hot, long, hot summer somewhere very sexy, with a chance to win a cash prize," you'll know a second season is in the works. According to what show producer Louise Peet told Vulture, that was the wording used for the season 1 casting call. If sca's comment above is to be believed, the streaming service may be waiting to see how the possible second season turns out before making the new season order official...maybe.
