The CBS shows Young Sheldon series finale.

Paramount has now announced the renewal of nine CBS shows. This announcement encomes Tracker season 3, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2, Elsbeth season 3, Fire Country season 4, NCIS season 23, NCIS: Origins season 2, NCIS: Sydney season 3, and Hollywood Squares season 2. They have also given the sitcom Ghosts a two-season renewal, so it will run through 2027 with seasons 5 and 6. More series orders and renewals are promised at a later date.

What These Renewals Mean For CBS

The Network's Roster Is Coming Together

This wide swath of renewals sees the CBS slate for the 2025-2026 season coming together, largely in one fell swoop. The renewed shows a slate that already includes Matlock season 2, FBI season 8 (which was confirmed as part of a previous two-season renewal), and new shows including the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, and the unscripted singing competition show The Road.

Boston Blue will star Donnie Wahlberg reprising the role of Detective Danny Reagan, who he played on all 14 seasons of the CBS police procedural.

Existing scripted series that remain on the bubble still include the procedural S.W.A.T. (which was renewed for the ongoing season 8 after season 7 was previously set to be its last), the sitcoms The Neighborhood and Poppa's House, the crime drama The Equalizer, and the remaining FBI shows FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted. It remains to be seen if any or all of them will be renewed. However, the fact that CBS has doled out renewals to a mixture of long-running series and freshman shows indicates that they all may have a chance.

Our Take On The CBS Renewals

They Are Shoring Up Some Of Their Biggest Franchises

With this slate of renewals, CBS has ensured the longevity of some of their most promising franchises, including the long-running NCIS franchise and the much newer Tracker. This renewal also shows that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has connected with audiences, preventing it from becoming the first show in the Big Bang Theory universe to only last one season, even though it is the first to lack iconic character Sheldon Cooper.
