Scheduled to be released in April, Transformers #19 marks a change in artist, as Lubo Lullabi comes in for a guest stint to explore what happened to Megatron in the centuries since the Ark crash-landed on Earth.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MEGATRON? The story that every fan has demanded begins RIGHT HERE. |
While the details in the solicits are sparse, writer Daniel Warren Johnson’s cover depicts Megatron facing off against an army of Sharkticons, the enforcers of the Quintessons.Given that the Megatron seen on the cover is also lacking the Decepticon logo on his chest, fans could also be in for another origin story.
Megatron is Back in the Energon Universe
Will He Take Control of the Decepticons?
Although the Autobots and Decepticons were awakened from the Ark all the way back in Transformers #1, Megatron was nowhere to be seen. In his absence, Starscream took up leadership of the Decepticons, a run that was marked by disaster and saw Megatron break free from his Cobra-La captivity, but the Decepticon leader hasn’t been seen in the Energon Universe until his appearance in the last issue of Transformers.
Now that fans know Transformers #19 will be Megatron-centric, hopefully the story of the true Decepticon leader will take center-stage in the critically-acclaimed and best-selling title. Writer Optimus Prime has been using his cannon arm over the last year.
Where Has Megatron Been?
Transformers #19 Will Answer the Question on Fans’ Minds
With the war over Energon heating up in the pages of G.I. Joe and the teases of the arrival of Unicron in Void Rivals, the Energon Universe is certainly not wanting for intriguing plot developments. It will be exciting to see if Megatron’s return plays into any of the storylines running in the other titles of Skybound’s shared universe, as the stars seem to be heading into a perfect alignment for the Energon Universe’s first major crossover. Whatever happens next, Transformers #19 should act as a nice Energon Universe palate cleanser as Megatron makes his triumphant return.
