WARNING! Potential spoilers ahead for Transformers #11Optimus Prime recently faced a brutal defeat in the pages of Transformers, and now things look to be growing even darker for the Autobots going forward in the Energon Universe. Judging from the solicitations and the newly-released preview for the next issue, Optimus Prime could be facing dissension in the ranks as the new continuity hints at a possible betrayal by one of his closest allies.
Released via previous mentor, Ultra Magnus.
Elita-One confronts Arcee and the others over their decision to leave Cybertron, picking up on a thread started in the previous issue which saw her call Optimus Prime to task for leaving the Autbots behind on Cybertron. Arcee shows she has no time for Elita’s accusations, as she proceeds to slug her in the jaw.
Will Elita-One Betray Optimus Prime in the Energon Universe?
Transformers #11 by Daniel Warren Johnson, Jorge Corona, Mike Spicer and Rus Wooton
Elita-One helped the Autobots escape from Shockwave’s deadly assault after she and Ultra Magnus came through the bridge to Earth from Cybertron. While it’s been millennia since she last saw Optimus Prime, the two of them don’t exactly have a happy reunion. “We could have used you eons ago,” Elita-One tells Prime in Transformers #10, “when things got bad. When they took over Cybertron.” Elita has been hardened by centuries of battle as she and a small band of Autobots fought for their freedom on Cybertron. This has apparently turned into disdain for the Autobot leader.
"Whether it’s Elita-One or another Autobot entirely, the prospect of Optimus Prime facing a major betrayal would be a huge storyline for the Energon Universe."
With the solicitations for Transformers #11 asking whether or not “all of the Autobots will stand with (Optimus Prime),” it certainly sounds like someone will be betraying Prime at some point in the near future. The Autobot leader has been through the wringer as of late, and is still reeling from the decision to leave Cliffjumper and Jazz behind following Shockwave’s attack. With those two currently being held captive and subjected to torture by Shockwave, it’s easy to see how his troops might be losing faith in their leader.

Elita-One Calls Prime’s Leadership Into Question
Whether it’s Elita-One or another Autobot entirely, the prospect of Optimus Prime facing a major betrayal would be a huge storyline for the Energon Universe. Several stories have been set in motion for Skybound’s shared universe, whether it’s Cobra-La traveling to space to mix things up with the Cybertronians, Hot Rod searching the galaxy for a missing ally or the newly-freed Megatron having escaped his imprisonment. Now that Cybertron has been brought to Earth, the Energon Universe could be setting the stage for a massive crossover between all the line’s titles, bringing the Transformers franchise to an epic new era.
