While Transformers: Reactivate was only just announced at The Game Awards, the new Transformers game was allegedly leaked early via concept art and animated cutscenes. The game's reveal trailer seems to coincide with the leaks, which teased a post-apocalyptic Transformers story featuring a brand-new threat to Earth's safety. Rather than the classic battle against the Deceptions for humanity's future, Transformers: Reactivate will see the noble Autobots battle the Legion to protect their human allies. Decepticons like Starscream, Megatron and Soundwave are expected to appear in the game too, however, with the Legion possibly motivating a truce between Cybertron's two feuding factions.

Little is currently known about Transformers: Reactivate gameplay, other than its online co-op nature. It seems likely that the game will see players battle through a list of linear levels, though an open-world Transformers game also has plenty of potential. The Legion ravaging most of Earth could make it a unique environment to explore, and the Transformers could easily traverse a large game world using their vehicle forms. However, the co-op gameplay coming to Transformers: Reactivate makes a linear mission-based structure more likely.

The Transformers: Reactivate trailer that premiered during The Game Awards 2022 presents a truly unique take on the Autobots and their story. The co-op action game will take players to a world where the Autobots already lost, with humanity reviving their robotic allies in a desperate bid to reclaim their planet. While a closed beta will reveal more next year, Transformers: Reactivate definitely seems to be more than meets the eye.
