Transformers: Rise of the Beasts appears to break one major Bumblebee trend for the movie franchise. Throughout the course of the Transformers movie franchise, iconic Autobots like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee have been at the center. Even as new factions of Transformers were introduced and changes to the timeline were made, they remained at the center of everything happening in the films. Both Optimus Prime and Bumblebee return in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and will interact with Optimus Primal and the Maximals and a new threat. However, Bumblebee's role has seemingly changed.
It has become custom for each Transformers movie to feature Bumblebee in a lead role, as the yellow and black Chevrolet Camaro or Volkswagen Beetle shared a strong bond with the human lead. This meant Bumblebee pairing up with Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), and Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld) in the previous six movies. However, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is bringing a different Autobot to the forefront. Anthony Ramos' character is repeatedly shown with Mirage, a silver and blue Porsche, in the movie, indicating that Bumblebee's trend of being the lead human's car/robot companion is broken.
Who Is Transformers 7’s New Main Autobot Mirage?
Mirage is positioned to be the main Autobot in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, as the silver Porsche is repeatedly shown with Anthony Ramos' character. It is unknown how the duo becomes connected, but the trailer teases Mirage is more than comfortable taking control in dangerous situations. Transformers 7's Mirage is voiced by Pete Davidson and has a few special powers, the ability to turn invisible and to create illusions. Longtime fans of the property might be confused about the character's design considering Mirage's G1 design is not a Porsche, but instead a Formula 1 racing car.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is not the first time that Mirage has appeared in the Transformers movie franchise. The Autobot made his debut in Transformers: Dark of the Moon as part of the partnership between NEST and the Autobots. In this appearance, Mirage's car form was a Ferrari. It was surprisingly revealed in Transformers: Age of Extinction that Mirage was killed by the Transformers-hunting CIA black ops team Cemetery Wind. However, Transformers: The Last Knight twisted Mirage's fate to reveal that he was still alive. All of these events come after Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in the timeline.
Bumblebee Could Have A Smaller Role In Transformers 7 Now
Now that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has broken Bumblebee's trend of being the main Autobot for the human lead, the fan-favorite character could be in store for a smaller role than normal. The Transformers 7 trailer showed Bumblebee in a dire situation after fighting a villain, and he is not featured in several other group shots alongside Optimus Prime. It seems that any reduced role for Bumblebee is being done to allow Mirage, Optimus Primal, and others to get more screen time. Even if Bumblebee's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts part is still quite large, the role he plays in the movie will be different.
