What The Trigger Warning Trailer Reveals About The Movie

Will Jessica Alba Make A Compelling Action Hero?

Jessica Alba as Parker bloodied and tied up in Trigger Warning

Alba hasn't yet been given a fair shake as a solo action hero, and Trigger Warning finally looks to be putting the actor center stage. The actor doesn't appear in movies as often as she used to, but her previous film in the genre was the disastrous Killers Anonymous in 2019, which currently has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Unlike that film, which essentially featured Alba as the third lead, Trigger Warning's trailer affirms that Alba is the centerpiece around which the whole film's story revolves.

Just like how 2014's John Wick essentially revived Keanu Reeves' career, Trigger Warning has the potential to do the same for Alba. John Wick, however, became a hit not just due to Reeves' performance, but also due to an inventive, hard-hitting style of action that hadn't really been seen before in Hollywood. Trigger Warning's trailer suggests the movie won't feature action at this same high level with the same level of finesse, but that doesn't mean it can't still be a fun, gritty, and action-packed vehicle for Alba to show off her skills.

The trailer unveils more about the key figures in the Trigger Warning cast or characters, notably that Parker will have few allies as she attempts to weed out the corruption around her. After she returns home, it seems that she'll learn that a corrupt senator and several police officers may have been involved in her father's death. It remains to be seen whether Trigger Warning will be a hit, but it certainly promises to feature a version of Alba audiences haven't really seen before.
