Legendary actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the host of the new NBC reality show 12 players who travel in a blacked-out bus with no windows or GPS around Europe and attempt to deduce their location through clues and challenges. Wits are used as guides, and the contestants create alliances and rivalries at every stop.
Whoever is furthest from the location from the actual location at the end of each episode is eliminated, and a prize of $250,000 is on the line. The contestants get off the bus each episode in unique tourist locations for challenges designed to reveal clues about their location. The challenges include not only clues but also intentional misdirections meant to be red herrings. There is an element of psychological warfare to the game, as participants need to read each other and detect deception.

Jeffrey was on an impactful episode of Sliders, a former Syfy show that ran for two seasons. Jeffrey appeared in the fifth episode of season 2 as "Sid," in a role that echoes a Negan-like villain edge. Although his appearance on the show, which ran from 1995 to 2000, was brief, it left an impression and paved the way for his character to develop into Negan.

Like Sliders, Jeffrey was only a part of one episode of Angel, but his character was memorable. In Angel season 3 episode 2 titled "Provider," which aired in 2002, Jeffrey played Sam Ryan, someone seeking to avenge his friend's death. In the hit Showtime TV program Weeds, Jeffrey played Judah Botwin, the husband of weed dealer Nancy Botwin and biological father to Shane Botwin and assumed father of Silas Botwin. Weeds aired from 2005 to 2012 (via Moveiclips), and Jeffrey's character died before the pilot episode of the show, so he was shown in flashbacks throughout the series. His character and death set the stage for Nancy's marijuana career.

Jeffrey reprised his role as a father figure in Supernatural. He played John Winchester, father to hunters Sam and Dean Winchester. Jeffrey's character, John, had a complicated and engaging role on the show. He was a part of Supernatural from 2005 to 2023, although Jeffrey and his character took a few breaks over the years.

Denny Duquette
Jeffrey played Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy season 2, and it was arguably his most famous role aside from playing Negan. Jeffrey's character had a heartfelt arc in Grey's Anatomy, as he fell for leading lady MD Izzie Stevens. He checked into the hospital under her care, but never checked out, in a storyline that touched audiences. Moreover, Jeffrey said he had a hard time leaving that role.

Jeffrey ed The Boys for season 4, and played Joe Kessler. His character ended up having an elaborate storyline, after initially appearing as a recurring guest star. For his role in The Boys, Jeffrey was reunited with Eric Kripke, the showrunner and creator of Supernatural. Jeffrey was in a total of six episodes, all of which aired in 2024.

In the role that catapulted Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Hollywood fame, he played Negan Smith in The Walking Dead. Jeffrey's role as Jason Crouse famously didn't get any closure regarding the relationship he started with Juliana's Alicia Florrick character. Jeffrey's The Good Wife run came just one year before he began as The Walking Dead's Negan.

In Starz's production Magic City, Jeffrey finally got cast in a leading role, as Ike Evans.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is The Walking Dead's first sequel, and the fifth series in the franchise. Negan is a co-lead with Lauren Cohan's character, Maggie Greene. Set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan, Negan and Maggie search for Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel. Season 1 premiered in 2023, and season 2 is currently airing.
