Breaking Dawn Part I and II were mostly faithful to their book counterparts. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen's epic vampire romance leads to their marriage and honeymoon on the exotic Isle Esme - as well as an unplanned half-vampire pregnancy.
The deleted scenes for the Breaking Dawn films reveal further details that expand the scope of the Twilight world and draw direct references to the book series. Relationships between characters are explored and the horrifying reality of the Volturi is revealed. Here are ten hidden details in the Breaking Dawn deleted scenes.
Aro Receives Bella And Edward's Wedding Invitation
In Breaking Dawn Part I, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen get married in a culmination of their four-book love story. Alice sends a wedding invitation to Aro and the Volturi as a means of informing the elite vampire guard that Bella will soon be transformed into a vampire.
In the deleted scenes, we see that Aro received Bella and Edward's wedding invitation and understood it's inferred message. He later sends her a wedding present in Breaking Dawn Part II, informing the Cullens that he wants proof of Bella's new vampirism.
The Volturi Kill A Lot Of People
In the same deleted scene, Aro's human assistant is killed by the guards as the camera pans over to a pile of dead bodies in the hall. It echoes the scene in New Moon where a group of human tourists is led to their deaths as Bella, Edward, and Alice flee the Volturi.
This shows the true horror of the Volturi. They are vicious and sadistic killers with no regard for human life. The number of bodies on the floor highlights the multitude of murders they regularly commit.
There Were Earlier Clues That Bella Was Pregnant
After Bella and Edward finally tie the knot, the young couple travel to the Cullens' private island, Isle Esme, for their honeymoon. It is on the tropical island that they share their first intimate night - which swiftly results in Bella becoming pregnant.
In the deleted scenes of Breaking Dawn Part I, Bella and Edward share an earlier conversation that hints at Bella's pregnancy. Bella hungrily consumes food as Edward remarks that she has an increased appetite.
Bella Offers To Remain Human... For A While
In the same scene, Bella makes Edward an offer that could have drastically changed the story of Breaking Dawn. After experiencing intimacy for the first time, Bella offers to remain human for a while so she can continue to enjoy the benefits of humanity, to Edward's amusement.
Bella does remain human but not because of her desire to be with Edward. She soon realizes she is pregnant and gives birth to their daughter Renesmee before transforming into a vampire.
Rosalie And Jacob's Rivalry
In the books, Jacob Black and Rosalie Hale do not get along. As a werewolf and a vampire they are predestined for conflict, but Jacob's rivalry with Rosalie becomes personal in Breaking Dawn after the blonde vampire shows a callous disregard for Bella's well-being during her pregnancy.
In the deleted scenes, Rosalie gives Jacob some food in a dog bowl in a direct adaptation of a scene from the book. Jacob gets revenge by throwing the bowl at Rosalie and smearing food in her hair.
Jacob And Alice's Friendship
In the deleted scenes of Breaking Dawn Part I, we see that, whilst Jacob clashes with one Cullen sister, he bonds with another. Alice and Jacob share a brief moment on the balcony of the Cullen house, with the psychic vampire claiming that Jacob's presence eases the discomfort of her gift.
Alice is a powerful vampire who receives visions of possible future events. She cannot see anything regarding the werewolves, however, and Jacob's presence soothes her headaches.
Edward Attacks Jacob
After Bella seemingly dies during Renesmee's birth, Jacob has a moment of darkness. Stricken with grief for Bella, he tries to kill the half-vampire baby before he imprints on her. In the deleted scenes, Edward hears Jacob's thoughts and incapacitates him so he cannot harm his daughter.
Edward throws Jacob against a wall and breaks his bones before standing with his family against the werewolves' attack. Jacob heals quickly and interrupts the fight to declare that he has imprinted on Renesmee and she is protected by the most sacred of werewolf laws.
The Cullens Suffer To Protect Bella
Bella is at her most vulnerable in Breaking Dawn. She was pursued by vampires for the entire series, but in the fourth film, she has a new target on her back. After learning of her pregnancy, the werewolves vow to kill Bella out of fear of her child, prompting the Cullens to remain in their house and protect her.
The deleted scenes depict the lengths the Cullens go to to keep Bella safe. Their black eyes signal their thirst as the werewolves are patrolling the perimeter and preventing them from hunting. Bella consuming human blood in the same house was an additional struggle for the 'vegetarian' vampires.
Rosalie's Disregard For Bella's Life
Rosalie unexpectedly becomes Bella's biggest ally in Breaking Dawn Part I. The blonde vampire becomes her bodyguard during Bella's pregnancy, though Rosalie acts out of an obsessive love for the baby instead of care for Bella's well-being.
In the deleted scenes, Rosalie callously remarks that human babies are known to break ribs after Bella's half-vampire baby seriously injures her. It is clear that Rosalie is helping Bella for self-gain and not out of sisterly love.
Bella's Training Fail
In Breaking Dawn Part II, fans finally get to see Bella as a vampire. She adapts to her undead status with ease and develops an extra psychic ability, though her powers are still put to the test when the Volturi come to Forks.
Breaking Dawn Part II director Bill Corndon revealed in an interview that, during a deleted scene, Bella struggles whilst training her new gift. Luckily for the Cullens, her gifts are honed by the time Aro and the Volturi arrive in town.
