announced at E3 2019, and the game was earlier slated to release in February 2020.
Towards the end of 2019, Ubisoft had announced that it will The Legend of Zelda franchise. The game is based on Greek Mythology, just like Assassin's Creed Odyssey. However, unlike Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Gods & Monsters will predominantly lay emphasis on the mythological elements of ancient Greece.
According to Google Stadia - under the name Orpheus. It quickly went viral before being taken down and footage began surfacing on the internet. A Stadia spokesperson, later on, issued a statement apologizing to Ubisoft and stating that the game was not intended to be made public.
Coming to the leaked footage, it seems like initial speculations were true. The game draws ample inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with mechanics such as the stamina bar looking like a complete rip from the most recent Zelda title. The stamina even depletes while climbing, something which is unique to the Legend of Zelda franchise. Apart from that, the HUD and UI look similar to the one in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. However, that appears to be more of a placeholder given how out of place it looks in comparison to the game's art style. Apart from the protagonist, the other NPCs are bland models without textures, hinting towards the fact that the game must be at a very early stage of development at the time of the demo's creation.
The leak has already started infuriating Nintendo fans because of the similarities Gods & Monsters shares with the Zelda franchise. Oddly enough, The Legend of Zelda has quite a large fanbase on other non-Nintendo platforms as well considering the fact that many people do emulate the games on PC. If Ubisoft is able to get this one right, it should be able to make a compelling case for itself, especially for players who don't own a Nintendo console.
