The Umbrella Academy has created a whole new world of unlikely mysterious superheroes and misunderstood villains. With only 10 episodes in season 1, fast connections were made between audience and the characters on screen, including the lovable Klaus and his bond with Ben, Diego's love and respect for his mother, and Vanya's longing to belong and be a part of something.

But although these characters have traits that are ired and relatable and their interactions provide entertaining and witty dialogue, they aren't without their faults. This list mentions some of the worst things the characters have done in season 1 of The Umbrella Academy.

Luther: Threw Vanya In The Cell

Out of Luther's moments in the show, he outdid himself on the stupidity scale with this one. Yes, he loves Allison and she was almost killed by Vanya. She likely would've been had they not saved her. But instead of trying to understand his sister and show comion, he decided to squeeze her so hard she ed out. Vanya went to him looking for forgiveness and he threw her in the same cage that tormented her during her childhood. He didn't let anyone approach her, and left her alone to deal with her powers. To add on top of that, he also questioned whether they should take her with them when escaping the apocalypse.

Klaus & Ben: Threw Away Their Father's Book

Klaus and his search for drug money inside the Hargreeeves household inadvertently caused the influential presence of Leonard in Vanya's life. No doubt the creep would have found a way without the book, but now he had precious information. The book held vital research from when Reginald Hargreeves was investigating the limits and strengths of the children's' powers.

And although Pogo asked Klaus to find the book, its contents remained secret. As for Ben? Telling Vanya when they were younger that she needed to have powers to go on a mission was a little low, and he did kill some people with his powers.

Allison: "I Heard A Rumor"

Unfortunately for Allison, she didn't come across any Spider-Man comics during her childhood, because if she had, she would have known that "with great power comes great responsibility." Allison was trained in her childhood to manipulate people in order to control them. And it bled into her adult life even after she left The Umbrella Academy. She "rumored" people into giving her acting roles, loving her, and even "rumored" her daughter. And although she was just an instrument in her father's plans, she used her powers to make Vanya believe she was ordinary.

Diego: Didn't Show Up For Patch & Killed Grace

Diego shuts down Grace

Diego and Detective Eudora Patch have a complicated history. They both investigate criminal activity, except Diego is a vigilante while Eudora's position in law enforcement binds her to the rulebook. Diego convinced her to try things his way, which she did. He made an offer in which he couldn't keep up his end, and Eudora was killed at the hands of Cha-Cha. Diego also killed Grace in an act of mercy and never told his siblings the truth of his actions.

Vanya & Leonard: Apocalypse & Manipulation

Vanya slashed her sister's throat, but it's not the worst thing she's done. She killed Leonard in an uncontrollable rage, but no one liked Leonard anyway so that's not the worst either. But she did reduce her family to nothing more than an obstacle to her powers and blamed them for ruining her life, killed Pogo, and destroyed the Hargreeves house, killing Grace. She then zapped the moon and caused hundreds of pieces to fall to earth and create a fiery, infernal wasteland uninhabitable to the human race. And Leonard? Well, just about his entire plan was the worst thing he has ever done, besides murdering people on his way to glory.

Five: Time Rewind

Five looking confused in The Umbrella Academy

The obvious answer is to say Five killed countless people in his years as an assassin, but as he had no other choice, or way to get back to his siblings, another of the worst things he's done is change time. In the episode "The Day That Wasn't," everything was going too perfectly. Luther and Allison were happy and together, Diego was going to learn the truth from Grace, Vanya had found the book Leonard had been using to "train" her, and Klaus had conjured Dave. Five didn't tell his siblings his plan at the Commission and everyone's lives were altered when he changed time. He brought back a vital clue about Harold Jenkins and distracted Hazel and Cha-Cha.

But could Vanya have discovered Leonard without injuring Allison and having been consumed by her powers, the events which ultimately caused the divide from her siblings? Five gave them more time and brought them together, but at what cost?

Hazel & Cha-Cha: Kidnapping Klaus & Killing Eudora

Hazel and Cha-Cha work for the commission. They've killed more than their fair share of people, as shown by the ghosts Klaus communicated with when he was their hostage. But based on the events which occurred during the Klaus in their hunt for Five and killing Detective Eudora Patch without a second thought.

Grace & Pogo: Keeping Secrets

Grace is a robot designed by Reginald Hargreeves to give the children the affection and love he neglected to show them himself. Pogo is an intelligent being who has been by Hargreeves's side. Both of them kept secrets that could have saved the siblings a whole lot of trouble.

This includes why and how their father died, that Vanya had powers that were too dangerous and difficult to control, and that Luther was sent to the moon for no reason.

Reginald Hargreeves: Neglect & Abuse

Umbrella Academy Sir Reginald Hargreeves

Reginald Hargreeves is capable of love as shown in the episode "The White Violin," and even cracked a smile when a young Vanya started to learn the violin. But his treatment of the children he had taken from their mothers and chosen to adopt was abusive. He locked Klaus in a mausoleum to help him control his powers, but instead, Klaus was plagued by spirits, frightened, and turned to drugs to keep them at bay. Hargreeves neglected Vanya, drugged her so she would never know the truth of her power, and made her feel isolated her whole life.  He also marked the children with an umbrella tattoo and ignored them instead of saying goodnight.

The Handler: Protecting The Apocalypse

Umbrella Academy's The Handler as played by Kate Walsh

The Handler is in charge of keeping time running smoothly, hiring people to work for the Temp Commission, and deploying them to kill the links to the events. When she is introduced during the show she approaches Five decades after he traveled into the time period of the apocalypse and asks him to work for her. She sends Hazel and Cha-Cha to stop Five from saving the apocalypse as it is an event that has to happen.
