It is quite apparent that a plethora of outstanding shows for a while now. Yet, even with this being the case, the major downside of this is that a lot of outstanding shows tend to be overshadowed by the abundance of options it offers. This surely needs to change immediately.
A massive reason behind many shows flying under the radar is the fact that they were short-lived. However, that does not mean that they are automatically bad. In fact, there are many marvelous shows that sadly suffered this fate. That does not exclude longer running shows too, though. Let's take a deeper look into a handful of these shows, as well as determine what makes them essential to watch before the end of 2020.
Love
One of the most unappreciated shows on Netflix at this time is real side of dating in the adult world. In fact, it shows just how complicated it can be.
Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust are the main couple viewers follow, and it is a match made in Heaven. Their characters are polar opposites, but it is absolutely perfect. With this show only being three seasons, it tells the story well, but also quite efficiently.
Soundtrack
Soundtrack is one of the most unique Netflix originals out there. After being released in December of last year, it was surprisingly canceled fairly quickly. However, that should not scare viewers away, as this show is extremely well written.
Music fans will love this show, as it often will display the plot through popular songs. At times it can be a bit difficult to follow, but overall, it certainly is worth watching. It is just a shame that this show was not able to reach its full potential due to its cancellation.
Everything Sucks!
Those who have watched Everything Sucks! are absolutely enamored with it. However, due to it not being popular at the time of its release, Netflix opted to cancel it after just one season. This is extremely disappointing, as this show is nothing short of stellar.
Thankfully, it is still worth watching today, as its lone season is quite entertaining, to say the least. It is a coming of age story that focuses on an array of topics many high schoolers experience, such as sexuality, and friendship struggles. Also, it is quite witty with its humor.
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp
In 2015, it is an immensely hilarious series, especially due to the fact that grown adults are playing teenagers. This awkwardness helps the show out a lot from the start.
However, the raw comedy from this series is what makes it so likable for those who are in the mood for something light. This makes it a great option to watch during this challenging year. Also, it must be noted that its writing and choice of characters are exquisite.
Friends From College
It is strange that Friends From College was unable to have a long run. With a cast sporting big names such as Keegan-Michael Key and Cobie Smulders, it was assumed that it would go for longer than two seasons. Yet, this would not come to fruition.
That is quite alright though, as this show definitely is worth exploring. There are certainly a lot of conflicts displayed throughout its run, especially when seeing just how this friend group is immensely dysfunctional. However, this is what makes it relatable, as friends tend to grow apart with age.
American Vandal
American Vandal is quite honestly an elite show. This is due to the fact that it boasts immensely clever writing, while simultaneously being outrageous and at times, very immature. However, that is what allows it to be so golden.
This is the perfect show for somebody who enjoys comedy done in a rather unique style. It is quite difficult to find a show that tops the weirdness of this one, so it surely is one that can assist viewers in overcoming their 2020 blues.
Tuca & Bertie
Perhaps no show on this list has been dealt a crueler fate than Tuca & Bertie. Since it did not gain a massive following at the beginning of its release, Netflix prematurely pulled the plug, much to the dismay of its current viewers.
Although this show ends at only 10 episodes, they are all worth watching at this juncture. It definitely is the type of series that would appeal to young adults who are trying to tackle the world. Overall, it is nothing short of stupendous and Adult Swim thankfully is bringing it back.
Sense8
Sense8 is certainly a show that would be worth watching right now. There is no question that it does a marvelous job at pulling its audience in, as it is immensely challenging to determine what is going to happen next.
It has been a handful of years since its completion, but even with this being the case, it absolutely is something to start now. This sci-fi show has quite a unique premise, as it takes the superpower genre down an entirely new path. Viewers absolutely should binge it before the year comes to a close.
Master Of None
For those who have yet to see Master Of None, this is surely a must-watch before the year's completion. Aziz Ansari truly has blossomed as an actor in this series. Although searching for love is a common theme of this show, it tackles many other areas too.
This is why this show could be deemed as one of the deepest Netflix originals viewers can watch. It is a show that its viewers love to play on repeat, as it is not only very clever but also astoundingly relatable. Overall, it is a hidden gem for those who are in need of a funny, but also serious show.
F Is For Family
living with a dysfunctional family can be. However, while doing so, it simultaneously provides raunchy and tough humor that never fails to make viewers chuckle.
The character development and storytelling in this show are certainly massive factors for its success as well. It definitely could have a much bigger fanbase though, as one could argue that it is among the top shows Netflix is producing at this said juncture.
