Devolverland Expo is a virtual game conference, free to play on Steam. As every game convention has been canceled due to the pandemic, Devolver Digital found a unique way to showcase their library of games through this interactive experience. In this game or playable ment depending on how you look at it, the player sneaks into the closed Devolver Expo and visits each game’s unique booth, complete with a trailer.
Playing through the game, players will unlock Steam achievements. Some of them are easy to get, and others require a little more effort. This guide will help players obtain all of Devolverland Expo’s achievements, regardless of their difficulty.
Devolverland Expo’s Story Achievements
The majority of the achievements for Devolverland Expo are obtained by naturally playing through the presentation. Those that have already beaten the game will acquire all of these achievements, so think of this portion of the guide as a brief walkthrough. Simply breaking into the Expo, by rewiring the circuits outside, will grant Master Electrician. Upon entering, walking straight towards the stairs and making a left turn will lead players to the gift store where they can pick up the T-Shirt launcher, and then the Unleash the Merch achievement. By this point, the ominous security drones have been activated and will send the player back to a checkpoint if they’re caught. They can’t be destroyed, but can be temporarily deactivated by shooting them with a t-shirt; this will net the player the Boom, Roasted achievement. To enter the main hall, a from the locked security room is needed. While players might try to find a key to open it, they instead need to shoot the red button. Then, they’ll get the Crackshot achievement, and can go up the stairs to obtain the Expo and Credentialed. Then, they can proceed to the North Hall.
Now that the player has snuck into Devolver’s convention hall, they can explore the exhibits for all their games and watch their trailers. Watching every trailer is required to progress to the next area, and watching each trailer will unlock its respective achievement. However, players will need to watch the trailer through its entirety, or else they won’t gain each trailer’s respective achievement. There are a few other story-based achievements during this section, tied to completing certain tasks. Players shouldn’t worry about missing those, like Puzzle Mastermind and Expo Pro.
Devolverland Expo’s Hidden Achievements
The story related achievements are more along the lines of ‘proof of completion’ than a secret accomplishment. However, there are several achievements that players may need to go out of their way to find. One small portion of the game has players dodge laser beams to progress through a hallway. It’s brief, but making it through without being detected (which just sends you back to the beginning of that area) will award the Frickin’ Laser Beams achievement. It’s possible to jump, duck, and slide in this game, so make use of those skills to carefully dodge the security lasers. There is a trick to get by them quicker: the last set of laser beams can’t be dodged, and the player must shoot a far-off button with a t-shirt as they did earlier in the game to shut off the lasers. However, it is possible to target the button before reaching the last set of laser beams, letting players by the last set of lasers they need to doge that are the trickiest. An easier hidden achievement is Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!, obtained by shooting down all of the Fall Guys in the booth of their game. There are around 20, so it can take a minute or so to complete due to the t-shirt launcher’s reload time. Other Fall Guys are present at that booth, in the background, but they don’t need to be knocked over.
Outside of getting 100%, there is one set of achievements well worth the player’s time. Scattered throughout the facility are 3 sets of collectibles, appearing once the player enters the South Hall: 4 books, 4 teacups, and 4 plastic bags. Collecting all 4 of each set will let players see something special that won’t be spoiled here. There’s typically 1 found in the booth for every game, and usually in the areas in between. Hovering over one and pressing the ‘use’ button will collect it, and the game will keep track of how many the player has found. Spoiling exactly where each one is hidden will spoil the fun of finding them, so here are some important tips to keep in mind: The game does not let the player return to previous areas on some occasions, notably during the vent section. Ensure that every suspicious nook and cranny has been searched before progressing to avoid missing anything. Many can be found in plain sight or as part of the displays, so look on every surface, on the floor, or even hanging up on a prop. Devolverland Expo does not let players save their game and each play-through starts at the beginning again, so keep this in mind.
Devolverland Expo is available for free on Steam.
