Players can wield the PPSh-41 Sub Machinegun and Swiss K-31 Sniper Rifle, both available in the battle . Zombie fans are finally able to unlock guns outside of multiplayer with Cold War Zombies-based weapon unlock challenges. Thankfully, the same applies to the CARV.2. This guide will lay out everything players need to know about the latest weapon. Here's how to unlock the CARV.2 in Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War.
Black Ops Cold War: How to Unlock the CARV.2.
There are a few schools of thought when trying to unlock the CARV.2 in Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone. Players can either complete a multiplayer challenge in Cold War, an identical challenge in Warzone, or a Cold War Zombies challenge. Here are the challenges:
To unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War multiplayer, players must use a Tactical Rifle to rapidly kill 2 or more enemies in 10 completed matches. Rapid kills are multi-kills, and players will know when they've got one.
To unlock the CARV.2 in Warzone, players must do the same thing, use a Tactical Rifle to rapidly kill 2 or more players in 10 different matches. Sorry Warzone exclusive players, this challenge is not going to be easy to pull off. Perhaps camping cash deposit pads in Plunder will help. Ten lucky games of Rebirth Island might also get the job done.
The most important thing to is players must complete the match for it to count. Long gone are the days of backing out once a leg of the challenge has been completed. If going for weapon unlocks strickly, players can try and kill as many birds as they can with one stone. Once they've gotten their two rapid kills, they can move on to unlock the Ballistic Knife or Crossbow.
To unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War Zombies, players must get 250 Longshot kills with a Tactical Rifle. Compared to Warzone, this challenge is far easier if players have access to Cold War Zombies. Zombies unlock challenges are brand new to Season 3 and have made unlocking weapons much easier. Players who prefer co-op Zombies rather than competitive PvP can finally get their hands on all the weapons they may have missed from previous battle es.
Finally, if players want to get their hands on the CARV.2 immediately, they can buy the Plastic Prototype bundle from the store for 1200 COD points. The Plastic Prototype bundle includes:
- Konsol (Legendary CARV.2 Blueprint)
- Lazer Gun (Legendary Emblem)
- Brick (Epic Charm)
- Launch Control (Epic Sticker)
- 1 Tier Skip
Here are a few tips and tricks on how to easily complete the CARV.2 unlock challenges in Multiplayer and Zombies.
Cold War Zombies: How to Unlock the CARV.2
As stated, to unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War Zombies, players must get 250 longshot kills with a Tactical Rifle. This is easily doable with a DMR or M16, and players will have the easiest time completing this challenge in Outbreak Mode. Outbreak's round-based mechanics will allow players to milk the easier rounds for the most kills. Here's how to use Outbreak Zombies to unlock the CARV.2.
Outbreak Zombies' first few rounds will spawn infinite zombies with low health. A well-placed DMR shot or single M16 burst will headshot zombies from a distance long enough to be considered a Longshot. Furthermore, players will be notified when they get a longshot kill with a bonus 10 points award to their overall score. Using Outbreak Zombies mode to unlock the CARV.2 will be significantly less stressful than trying to get multi-kills in competitive multiplayer.
Once unlocked, Outbreak Zombies is also the best way to level up the CARV.2. Players can pop a double XP token and grind until round 5 for the best results. The longer they go, the faster the XP-earning curve falls off. It's best for players, especially if they're new to Outbreak Zombies to Exfill on round 5 to pocket the crystals and XP.
Players can load into Outbreak on their own, kick their feet up and go on a long-range zombie-killing spree. They can also check their progress by editing their class mid-game. Players may want to Pack-A-Punch their Tactical Rifle at least once and sit on round 3 to get the most bang for their buck. Of course, it will depend on what map they're currently on. Huge Outbreak maps like Ruka, Alpine, and the all-new Duga are wide open enough to get Longshot kills all night long. However, smaller maps like Sanatorium, and close-quarters maps like Golova, will make Longshots more difficult.
How to Unlock the CARV.2 in Cold War Multiplayer
Unlocking the CARV.2 in multiplayer will be more challenging than unlocking it in Zombies, but a skilled player should have the challenge done in a few hours of gameplay. Getting two rapid kills is no easy task, especially in more competitive SBMM circles. Players will want to stick to objective-based 6v6 modes for the best results. Specifically, they'll want to grind Nuketown 24/7 for the most close-quarters combat opportunity.
Still, in its infancy, it's hard to tell where the CARV.2 will rank among weapons in both Cold War and Warzone. Will it ascend to the top of the meta in Warzone? The AUG and M16 certainly did, and players are probably still having nightmares about DMR-Zone. It appears Tactical Rifles sit in a class of their own when it comes to competitive Call of Duty. Only time will tell where the CARV.2 falls. However, if history tells us anything, the CARV.2 will probably be over-powered with an emergency nerf on the way.
Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Last-Gen
