While exploring Cyberpunk 2077, one player stumbled across a Night City transit system that appears as though it was once meant to offer far more functionality. If this serves as an example of cut content still lingering in the core game, it certainly wouldn't be the first.
Thanks to one of Cyberpunk 2077's more noteworthy Cyberware upgrades, the Reinforced Tendons, players have been able to make use of a double jump ability that allows for parkour-like movement around the map. This is especially interesting given that the RPG once boasted wall-running mechanics of some kind, a feature that CD Projekt RED tossed aside due to "design reasons." Clearly, remnants of what could've been another intriguing movement option live on to a degree. And that doesn't just hold true for the excised wall-running gameplay, either.
In navigating CD Projekt RED's latest open-world, Reddit Sybekul (via PCGamesN) encountered a monorail system that led to a station named, "NCART" for "Night City Area Rapid Transit." The 's post posits that it was possibly a creation the developer lacked the time to finish. One look inside the station indicates why the Redditor drew such a conclusion. For one, the player was able to open the station's door and go inside, despite the interior's unfinished state. The bottom floor of the station is incomplete; so, too, is the roof. In fact, a quick look at the roof shows a few assets popping in and out of view.
Evidently, this was set dressing players weren't supposed to find. But perhaps its something that will be expanded upon whenever CD Projekt RED can begin exploring Cyberpunk 2077's previously teased post-launch content? Though a hidden message from the studio noted the first of such DLC will come in the form of free content in early 2021, it remains to be seen whether this is still the plan. Presumably, the schedule ahead of launch didn't take into consideration the exhaustive number of fixes required to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to stable functionality on last-gen hardware.
Because CDPR's latest project is so incredibly massive, there's no telling what other pieces of cut content can be spotted in the game-world. If there does exist more to find in this regard, it may very well hit the web eventually, particularly due to the sheer number of players that have ventured across the open-world. Within a week of launch, and despite the myriad performance issues, Cyberpunk 2077 had sured 13 million copies sold.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available to purchase across the Google Stadia, PC, and Xbox platforms. Though it's been delisted from the PS Store, PlayStation s can still buy physical copies of the title at retail.
