Since it entered Early Access in 2021, players have used Iron Gate Studio's Nordic-themed survival title Valheim for plenty of creative purposes. The main game sees players crafting a variety of resources, such as powerful weapons to vanquish their foes or structures, such as longhouses, to provide shelter using materials gathered in the game's massive, procedurally generated world.

One Redditor mrholmestv has shared a recreation of one of The Lord of the Rings' iconic locations, Weathertop, in the game, with the ruins set atop a large, tiered hill. Weathertop, also known as Amon Sûl, was a lookout point in the Eriador region of Middle-earth, the southernmost and highest summit of the Weather Hills, and the Valheim creation very closely resembles how it was depicted in the movies of the early 2000s​​​​​.

The caption "Tomahtoes, sausages, nice crispy bacon" references a moment from Fellowship of the Ring where Frodo is awoken at night by fellow Hobbits, Sam, Merry, and Pippin, cooking up a meal at a campfire, something that would prove to be a major mistake. This campfire is also clearly shown in one of the first images of Weathertop in mrholmestv's post, on one of the lower sections of the hill.

The Confrontation With The Witch-King Would Haunt Frodo For Years To Come

Although the Hobbits and Aragorn avoided the main road and approached Weathertop from the North in an attempt to undetected, the cooking clearly gave away their location later that night. The Ringwraiths then attacked the camp, with The Witch-king Angmar, leader of the Nazgûl, stabbing Frodo with a Morgul-knife before eventually being driven off by the others.

While Elrond was able to heal Frodo's wound, the pain seemed to return to torment him annually, along with a later injury he sustained when trying to escape the giant spider Shelob in Return of the King. On the anniversary of his stabbing at Weathertop, he would feel the pain of his shoulder wound all over again, and this annual trauma is one of the reasons Frodo opted to leave Middle-earth and head to the Undying Lands - also known as Valinor - in the hopes of finally finding some peace, with his sacrifice to destroy The One Ring earning him safe age.

This isn't the first time players have recreated areas of Middle-earth, as there have been many Lord of the Rings-themed builds and mods covering the likes of Barud-dur or Helms Deep, and it's clear that a large section of the Valheim community is very ionate about Tolkien's fantasy works. Whereas these locations are where major climactic set pieces take place, Weathertop as a location has more of a lasting impact on Frodo, despite the time spent there being more fleeting.
