In Valkyrie Elysium, there are three skill trees that can be learned by spending in-game materials that can be obtained while progressing through the game's story. Skill Progression in Valkyrie Elysium

While the exact order can vary, each skill tree has an important skill the player should work to unlock as quickly as they can. Each skill tree has a linear progression, so the player will need to buy the previous skills to reach their target. The three targets are Double Jump from , Ranged attack from Attack, and Precision Guard from Defender. The first gives a much-needed increase to the player's mobility, while the second two both provide more flexibility and attack options in combat. The skills picked up along the way, Magic Boost 1, Attack Boost 1, Quick Evade, and Damage Dampener 1, are nothing to sneeze at either, increasing the player's defense and attack.

A lot of Valkyrie Profile, Valkyrie Elysium's 23-year-old predecessor, can be seen in the game, with modern updates and changes. The skill trees add much to update the gameplay and place it among other RPGs, making it as rich and involved as modern audiences have come to expect.
