The Recon weapon skin bundle for Call of Duty-style flair to the look of weapons such as the Phantom, Ghost, Spectre, and Guardian. A free-to-play hero shooter from Riot Games, Valorant hit the ground running at launch in June 2020 on PC.
Hero shooters have become all the rage since Riot's mobile game plans further suggest the title will stick around long-term.
Riot Games is deploying an all-new weapon bundle for Valorant called Recon, which will equip select guns with a military-style design and attachments. The weapons receiving the realistic, modern shooter makeover include Phantom, Ghost, Spectre, and Guardian. Plus, the Recon bundle will also pack in Balisong Butterfly Knife for melee. The bundle goes live today, August 24, and boasts a price of 7,100 VP, according to a press release.
Art Lead Sean Marino divulged that Valorant developers began experimenting with military sim attachments and themes early in production. Such design schemes have resurfaced because a continent of team continue to express interest in the look of modern combat weapons. In of what inspired the finalized Recon weapons, Marino said, "We wanted to dive into the experience that players get from games like PUBG, Rainbow Six, and others to give that feeling of a fully kitted out gun with all the bells and whistles in attachments."
The variety of weapon skins featured in the Recon bundle should ensure that most players have a reason to pick it up. Phantom, for instance is a rifle, while the Ghost acts as a sidearm; meanwhile, Spectre and Guardian constitute the SMG and Semi Automatic Rifle weapon types, respectively.
Of course, the new Butterfly Knife will likely count as the item that Recon bundle buyers are most interested in trying out. Who knows, it may even be primed to quickly become a fan favorite weapon.
Valorant is available to play now on PC.
