After 7 successful seasons, Lisa Vanderpump's staff and former employees certainly know how to bring the drama to the Bravo screens. Fans have stuck by them through countless cheating scandals and bar fights, breakups and friendship fallouts, and a variety of group vacations that end in tears. Since the 8th season of the show began filming, there have been hints on social media from the cast and rumors circulating about what's to come. At the forefront of those rumors is the Stassi Shroeder - Katie Maloney-Schwartz - Kristen Doute feud, and if the trailer indicates anything, this could be the end of the Witches of WeHo we used to know.
On November 7th, Bravo released the trailer (via Us Weekly) for season 8 of Vanderpump Rules, which opens with reality TV royalty Lisa Vanderpump in the hot seat saying "I don't even know where to start." Amid flashback clips of the cast from the first season, and glimpses at fights to come, Lisa continues, claiming that "this was years of friendship that I thought would last forever." The restaurateur could be hinting at the Stassi-Katie-Kristen feud, but there's also a clip that shows Jax Taylor in a heated argument with TomTom co-owner Tom Sandoval. Jax is shown arguing with his longtime friend. Sandoval served as co-best man along with Tom Schwartz at Jax's wedding to Brittany Cartwright, which was filmed for the series, but just a few months later Jax unfollowed Sandoval and his girlfriend Ariana on social media. Those rumors, combined with the clip of their shouting, seems to spell trouble for the former roommates and long time friends.
The trailer also showed a glimpse of the "Basic Witch Potion No.1" wine label owners feud that everyone has been curious about, with Katie telling Kristen "You’re being an obnoxious person right now" and Kristen responding that "Katie, you’re just a b*tch to me all the time." Stassi later is shown saying "You can’t be real for one second, Kristen," before the James Mae t-shirt line owner storms off. The teaser-trailer also has Lisa Vanderpump talking about the new faces that are ing the show this season, though she doesn't seem thrilled about it. She says, "Suddenly everything kind of turned upside down. It’s great to have new faces, but their problems are as complicated as their predecessors." Vanderpump Rules long-time cast Scheana Shay and LaLa Kent are relatively unseen during the teaser, save for one or two lines from each of the women, but with LaLa to stay out of the drama, they'll still be heavy hitters for the season. There's also a brief glimpse of self-proclaimed "white Kanye" DJ James Kennedy in an argument with his girlfriend Raquel Leviss, who s the show as a full-time cast member this season.
Vanderpump Rules veteran Stassi had previously opened up about how overwhelmed she was while filming season 8 of the show, particularly with the Kristen Doute drama that fans are impatiently waiting to learn more about, and based on the drama shown in the teaser, it's no surprise that the cast was overwhelmed. Sometimes it's hard to believe that these friends and frenemies still have anything left to fight about, but that's also why fans keep coming back to watch year after year. They'll be engagements and weddings, they'll be breakups and cheating accusations, they'll be fights among long-time friends that end in tears, what more could you want?
Vanderpump Rules season 8 premieres January 7th at 9 pm EST on Bravo.
