HBO's 7-season run earlier this year concluding the stories of its beloved characters and leaving Julia Louis-Dreyfus with 6 Emmys for her role as Selina Meyer. The show is highly regarded for its fast-paced dialogue and clever satire on the current political system.

If the show was actually about the political infighting of everyone's favorite wizarding world, show’s characters, most would easily fall under House Slytherin. Forget political parties, here are the Veep characters sorted into their Hogwarts Houses.

Kent Davidson - Ravenclaw

Kent knows everything from random pop culture facts to random historical facts, but, more specifically, Kent knows numbers. As the key strategist to Selina Meyers, Kent must ensure that he crunches all the numbers and understands all the polls, which is why Kent fits perfectly in the Ravenclaw house.

Ravenclaws are wise and intelligent, and Kent is no exception. So, it is no surprise that Selina kept him on her political team for so many years.

Richard Splett - Hufflepuff

In a series full of cutthroat and awful people, Richard is a beaming light of pureness. Richard is kind and loyal to his friends, colleagues, and even random strangers. Anyone that manages to stay friends with Jonah Ryan is both patient and extremely loyal.

Hufflepuffs are sometimes given a negative perception as weak, but Richard disproves this by quickly and unintentionally climbing the political ladder. Richard has never deceived or lied on the show, and in the world of politics that is a huge achievement.

Ben Cafferty - Hufflepuff

Selina’s trusty Chief-of-Staff might be wise like a Ravenclaw he is also reliable, honest, and loyal like a Hufflepuff. Ben has served in politics for a long time, and his wisdom is invaluable to Selina. She constantly seeks advice from him, and Ben is always willing to assist.

More importantly, Ben is loyal enough to Selina to keep all of her political secrets, especially her foreign policy blunders. When Selina decided to run for election again, Ben was immediately ready to help her election campaign.

Gary Walsh - Hufflepuff

Who is more loyal than Selina's unrelenting assistant? The answer is no one. Gary has endured more verbal and emotional abuse than anyone in the show, and yet his loyalty towards Selina has almost never wavered. Gary is the hardest worker in the show, especially since he carries all of Selina’s personal items in a ridiculously heavy bag. Gary is the definition of Hufflepuff and that remains true throughout the entire series.

Mike McClintock - Gryffindor

Mike might seem like an aloof idiot, but he continuously displays bravery that is synonymous with Gryffindor. While this would characteristically sort Mike as a Hufflepuff, his history of tardiness to work proves otherwise.

Mike was determined to have a child with his wife, going through in-vitro treatments and adoption proceedings. Even when Mike is fired, he refuses to give up. In true Gryffindor fashion, Mike manages to stay relevant and eventually becomes a popular reporter for Buzzfeed.

Amy Brookheimer - Gryffindor

While Amy's loyalty might come across as Hufflepuff, and her intelligence might signal Ravenclaw, her bravery is all Gryffindor. As Selina's chief of staff, Amy has continuously risked her entire career and reputation for Selina. Further down the road, Amy risks her career once again to aid the inept and unelectable Jonah Ryan as his campaign manager.

Yet, when pushed to limit, Amy was not afraid to confront Selina and berate with her insults and expletives. Just like any Gryffindor, Amy speaks her mind and values her own opinion.

Jonah Ryan - Slytherin

Jonah is neither cunning nor resourceful, but that has never hindered his political ambitions. Earlier in the show, Jonah exhibits more Hufflepuff qualities rather than Slytherin. Jonah endures the constant insults simply because he loves working in the White House. However, as the show progresses, Jonah clearly becomes more conniving and manipulative even if it almost never turns out in his favor.

At times Jonah might show a softer side towards his mother, wife, and his best friend Richard; but he usually almost always comes across as a selfish, misogynistic, and utterly awful person.

Catherine Meyer - Gryffindor

Courage and bravery are not words that immediately come to mind when describing Catherine. She is almost always shy and anxious while also allowing her mother to control almost every aspect of her life. However, a Gryffindor can be both reserved and brave, and Catherine shows this throughout the series. She is daring enough to snap back at her overbearing mother from time to time and changes her appearance despite media scrutiny. Catherine has lived almost her entire life in the public eye, which explains her shyness while also showing her resilience to combat the media’s watchful eyes.

Catherine opened up about her sexuality to her mother during an election campaign, knowing this could rattle Selina’s political base. That is bravery that any Gryffindor would be proud of.

Dan Egan - Slytherin

While not necessarily evil, Dan is not a nice person. He oozes deceit and manipulation with every breath and treats women like objects. That is why Dan is undoubtedly a Slytherin.

He wants nothing more than to ascend the political ladder and will burn everyone to get there. This is why Dan’s brief stint as a lobbyist was a perfect match for the character. Despite not actually being a politician, Dan has betrayed more people than most characters in the show, second to Selina.

Selina Meyer - Slytherin

If there was ever any doubt that Selina Meyer is a Slytherin then the final season erased all of that. Selina wants nothing more than power, and she will stop at nothing to achieve that goal. Even before the final season, Selina Meyer is conniving and resourceful, especially during “Congressional Ball”.

She has ruthlessness and determination in every bone in her body. Then again, she has to be to survive the cutthroat world of politics.
