Batman, have a mutual love for brooding and punching people in the face while also sharing similarly traumatic pasts in which their parents were brutally ripped away from them when they were just children. In new crossover fanart, Vegeta and Batman fuse to create a Dark Saiyan Knight hellbent on bringing justice to the superstitious and cowardly lot plaguing Gotham City.

Drawn by Salva (@salvamakoto) and shared on Instagram, this artist is a creative talent who specializes in taking the most popular characters from Dragon Ball lore and inserting them into different fictional worlds that are far different from their own.

More recently ing art featuring Kid Goku enjoying the company of The Lion King’s Mufasa, Piccolo relaxing beside Pokémon’s Venusaur, and even Goku sharing a slice with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Michelangelo, Salva consistently elevates his nerd art in ways that fans of these disparate properties can appreciate, with this Vegeta x Batman art being one of Salva’s coolest pieces.

Originating decades apart in different mediums, Vegeta and Batman walk a fine line as a villain-turned-hero and vengeful vigilante with overly brutal methods and seem to always be looking for ways to push their already commendable skills as fighters to their absolute limits. Losing his parents thanks to a senseless crime on the streets of Gotham and orphaned by a galactic despot looking to wipe out the entire Saiyan race, Batman and Vegeta, respectively, have similar dark and gritty natures, making Salva’s inventive character mash-up a piece that works on multiple levels.

Super Saiyan God Vegeta & Majin Vegeta Combine in Epic Dragon Ball Fanart

Vegeta is a popular Dragon Ball character who's come a long since being villain, and in a new piece of fan art, two of his most powerful forms unite!

Drawn crouched on a rooftop against an eerily similar nighttime moon background as seen in the final image of Batman: The Animated Series’ title sequence, Vegeta wears a form-fitting batsuit that mimics the show’s nostalgia-inducing Dark Knight design. Choosing not to wear Batman’s signature bat-cowl, as it’s unlikely Vegeta’s spiked hair could even fit underneath it, this image immediately makes fans wonder how long it would take for a Dark Knight-ified Vegeta wielding the full resources of Batman to collect all seven Dragon Balls and make a wish to rid Gotham City of its rampant crime and corruption.

Batman Hiding in Shadows in DC Comics

Though it’s unlikely the worlds of Dragon Ball and DC Comics will cross paths anytime soon, stranger comic and anime crossovers have happened before, with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto comic series being of particular importance to fans of both iconic properties, leaving the door cracked open for more unique team-ups in the future like what Salva (@salvamakoto) has created here. It’d be a nerd dream come true to see Dragon Ball’s Vegeta don the cape and cowl of Batman in an official capacity, with the only question remaining being, what would Trunks look like as Robin?
