Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Venom #16
In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Dark Web crossover with the X-Men, Eddie was manipulated by Ben Reilly's Chasm and the Goblin Queen, a process that turned him into the monstrous Bedlam, the next iteration of the King in Black. However, he's now armed himself in a truly comical fashion.
In the new Venom #16 from Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, Dylan Brock meets his father in battle as Marvel's newest Lethal Protector. Having recruited Normie Osborn as the new Red Goblin for some much-needed backup, Dylan intends to use his new powers as Codex to hopefully free the original Venom from his vicious time loop of evolutions where he'll eventually become Meridius, a dark King in Black seeking to kill both Brocks and the Venom symbiote. Case in point, this future version of Eddie comes to Bedlam, healing his arm while also encouraging him to form a weapon of his own to match Codex's Necrosword.
Bedlam Gets Jealous of Dylan Brock's Venom
Having become a one-eyed, giant red symbiote with a chainsaw for a hand, it's obvious that Eddie Brock has reached his most absurd look yet. That being said, young Normie Osborn certainly thinks the chainsaw is pretty cool. Despite its organic nature, Bedlam proves it behaves just like a mechanical chainsaw would with rotating blades and everything. As such, Eddie Bock has truly become his own symbiote version of Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series.
Thankfully, Red Goblin doesn't have to fight Bedlam on his own for very long as both Dylan's Venom and Ms. Marvel soon catch up to lend a hand. Fighting Bedlam with chains and his own impressive sword, Dylan almost had a chance to use his Codex powers to free Eddie from the symbiote hivemind, an act that might have broken the time loop and freed his dad from his dark destiny of becoming Meridius. However, Bedlam was summoned by the Goblin Queen for the finale of Dark Web before he could do so.
At any rate, Dylan recruiting Red Goblin is seemingly just the beginning of his new symbiote army. With the ability to sever symbiotes from the King in Black's control, Dylan, Venom, and any symbiote they alter stand the best chance at stopping and/or freeing Eddie in the near future. If the chainsaw hand wasn't evidence enough, Eddie Brock is clearly in a lot of trouble and isn't in his right mind. Venom #16 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
