Warning! Contains a preview for Venom #9

Having transcended as Marvel's new King in Black, Eddie Brock's Kang the Conqueror, the time-traveling despot clarifies what Eddie Brock is capable of now that he's no longer human in a new preview for Venom. Remarkably, Marvel's leading symbiote hero is much more powerful than the Spider-Man villain he once was.

In previous issues of Marvel's new Venom series, Eddie Brock's physical human body was blown up and destroyed by the Life Foundation and the massive conspiracy known as the Absent Throne. However, Eddie wasn't using his body all that much since he became the King in Black. Having access to the entirety of the symbiote hivemind in the Marvel Universe, Eddie can transfer his consciousness to any symbiote in time and space. However, harnessing this power is easier said than done. Having left his original Venom symbiote on Earth to bond with and protect his son Dylan, Eddie has embarked on a massive adventure that has put him face-to-face with future Kings in Black who share his power as well.

Now, the new preview for Venom #9 from Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch sees Eddie learning just how powerful he truly is from Kang the Conqueror. According to Kang, the only real limitation Venom has is still thinking like a human and the borders of his own imagination. No longer having a human body, the King in Black can take any form he wants while inhabiting an infinite number of symbiotes. It undeniably makes him one of the most powerful heroes in the entire Marvel Universe, putting him on par with the Watchmen universe's Doctor Manhattan. However, Kang notes that controlling this extreme power is something Venom has yet to master. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the issue:

VENOM #9- THE CAGE OPENS

EDDIE BROCK, AL EWING & BRYAN HITCH UNITE FOR A TALE ACROSS TIME! Eddie Brock is still getting used to his place in the symbiote hive, and with new allies and familiar faces alike offering him advice along the way, Eddie remains as canny, wary and reckless as ever. Little does he know, his battle across the cosmos has only just begun, and KANG THE CONQUEROR has a front-row seat for its first act!

While Eddie is certainly pumped about his new capabilities as a symbiote, Kang is absolutely right that he still has much to learn. For example, it doesn't seem as though Venom fully comprehends the intricacies of time and his ability to affect its natural flow (nor the dangers he could cause). It's why Kang the Conqueror is the perfect mentor to help the King in Black access his full power. After all, time travel is his bread and butter.

While Kang has his ulterior motives working with another King in Black named Meridius who wants Eddie and Dylan dead, it does seem as though the Avengers villain still has a vested interest in training Venom. Perhaps he's playing both sides for his own ends? Either way, it looks as though it will only be a matter of time before Eddie Brock can tap into his full god-tier powers. Venom #9 will release on July 27th.
