Warning! Spoilers ahead for Web of Venom: The Good Son #1.
Things don't look good for Eddie Brock's son Dylan. After the events of Absolute Carnage, Venom goes off on a mission to prepare for the arrival of Knull, the Symbiote God. Meanwhile, Dylan is left with Harry Osborn, Liz Allan, and their son Normie. While in their care, Dylan reveals to Normie that he hears a voice in his head. Whose voice is it and what does it want him to do?
Fans have known for a while that Dylan was the son of Eddie/Venom, but it's only recently that Dylan learned the truth himself. For most of his life, Dylan had been raised by his grandfather Carl, having to endure years of abuse until finally being discovered and rescued by Venom. Eddie let Dylan believe that he was an older half-brother and not in actuality his father. However, that changed at the end of the Absolute Carnage event. When Dark Carnage goes after Dylan, Eddie has to make a choice: save his son or save the world. He chooses Dylan, killing Carnage but unleashing Knull and his symbiote armies. While doing so, he inadvertently reveals to Dylan that he's his father. Later, Eddie promises to Dylan that he'll always protect him no matter what. However, how will Eddie protect Dylan now that he's away and Dylan's hearing a voice in his head?
In Web of Venom: The Good Son #1 from Zac Thompson and Dio Neves, Dylan confides in Normie that he hears a voice in his head that's encouraging him to use his powers over symbiotes, using and controlling a small piece of Carnage that Dylan saved from Absolute Carnage. This small remaining piece is Dylan's secret, one he has only shared with Normie. At night, he speaks with the voice with a familiar glowing red spiral on the wall. By the end of the issue, the voice is revealed to belong to none other than Knull, the Symbiote God himself. By the end of the issue Knull is assuring Dylan that everyone will kill him unless he kills them first, potentially turning him on the path of an adolescent serial killer.
It makes sense that Knull would have a connection to Dylan. After all, Dylan isn't like any normal twelve-year-old boy. He's a unique hybrid of symbiote and human, hence his control over symbiotes and the ability to repel them from bonding with him. As a result, it appears as though Knull is able to manipulate Dylan and is taking advantage of Venom's absence. Seemingly possessed, Dylan assures Knull that he will thread the needle between the two worlds (Earth and Klyntar). He promises that he won't rest until all of Earth sings his name.
Seeing as how Normie's witnessed much of what's been happening to Dylan, perhaps the grandson of the Green Goblin will take matters into his own hands and take on the son of Venom. Then again, Venom's supposed to be preparing for the Knull's arrival. What's he going to do when he realizes Knull has already compromised his son? Will Eddie be able to bring his son back from Knull's grasp? Fans will have to wait and see what will happen to Dylan as Web of Venom continues.
Web of Venom: The Good Son #1 is on comic book store shelves now.
