In Venom is a scary and brutal anti-hero that makes most people run for the hills the moment they see his hulking frame, with a new piece of fanart from comic industry artist Gabriele Dell’Otto turning Venom into something even scarier than usual!
Recently shared on Instagram via Gabriele’s official art page (fanart of characters from DC and Marvel Comics, each of which are drawn and colored with the same dedication and craft he gives to all of his industry work.
New Venom Fanart Levels Up His Scare-Factor Considerably
A terrifying alien symbiote bonded to ex-reporter Eddie Brock, Venom has murdered and maimed those he perceives deserve it in the past, only ending up curbing that habit once he decided to turn over a new leaf as a hero. Yet despite changing his tactics from eating people to saving them, Venom’s design still comes across as the stuff of nightmares, especially when smiling a toothy grin and sticking out his long red tongue. And with Gabriele putting his own spin on Venom’s iconic black and white, tendril-laced symbiote costume, this Marvel character not only looks just as badass as ever but downright horrifying too!
Sketching Venom on the left side of the image, Gabriele drenches Eddie in darkness as his muscular body takes up most of the frame. Stooped low with one arm propped against a wall and the other dipped in the shin-deep water below him, Venom rests his piercing glare on a single spider hanging precariously from one of his sharpened tendrils. Drawn as if he either wants to squash the bug with one clean hit like he would his nemesis, Spider-Man, or terrify it into submission, Venom's red tongue is the only colored part of the image, effectively conveying his dark and dangerous nature perfectly and in a way that only Gabriele can pull off.
So while Gabriele doesn’t illustrate as much interior artwork as he used to, this Venom fanart shows that if called upon, he would absolutely kill it on an ongoing book featuring Marvel’s Lethal Protector. Venom is a terrifying wild card in comics, and with Gabriele Dell’Otto (@gabrieledellotto) on the case, he’s even more so!
