2022 will be a great year for gamers, as some exciting titles are set to be released in the coming months. There are sequels, completely new games, and AAA titles coming out, with some highly-anticipated and repeatedly delayed games hopefully finally becoming available to players.

From the Souls-style title God of War Ragnarök, there’s no shortage of thrilling games players are looking forward to in 2022. It’s not surprising that there are a ton of discussions from gamers on Reddit about which titles they’re most excited for in the coming year. Based on the developers’ tweets, as well as events like E3 2021, Gamescom 2021, the Sony PlayStation Showcase, and more, fans have a better idea of when to expect these games to come out.

Elden Ring

When asked what their most anticipated game of 2022 is, the things players want to see in Elden Ring.

Considering how it’s FromSoftware’s latest addition to the Soulsborne series and how it’s being made with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin’s help, there’s a lot of hype around the game. It was originally set to be released in January 2022, but a tweet from FromSoft confirmed it will be pushed back to February 25, 2022 for PC and all major consoles.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2

Fans like Breath of the Wild. They’re hoping it will “release on time,” following Nintendo’s vague announcement about a 2022 release date in their epic trailer for the game during E3 2021.

Based on the preview, it seems as if Link and Zelda could be facing off against a formidable enemy (possibly Ganondorf). Players will be happy to know that the sky’s the limit in the new title, as the trailer reveals some interesting paragliding and freefalling mechanics, complete with floating cities. It’s coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.

Gran Turismo 7

There’s no denying that the best racing games on the PlayStation of all time, which is why fans are eagerly waiting for the release of its 7th edition. Catty_C can’t wait to get their hands on the title, as they’re “getting back into racing games” and are just “waiting” for the latest installment in Sony’s premier racing sim.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how the new racing game will take advantage of the PlayStation 5. It’s certainly going to be more realistic than ever, which is good news for players who can’t get enough of the well-designed cars and tracks in the series. According to the official Gran Turismo 7 will be available for both the PS5 and the PS4 on April 3, 2022.

Kerbal Space Program 2

The sequel to the notoriously difficult space flight sim, Kerbal Space Program, is hopefully coming out sometime in 2022 for PC and all major consoles. The Redditor evanmcn2007 says “Kerbal Space Program 2” is their most anticipated PC game for the coming year and several other s agree in the comments like Boo-Man proclaiming that "this is the best answer."

Although it was originally scheduled to come out way back in 2020, a tweet from the game’s official has announced that it will finally be released next year. Players can still expect to have a challenging time building rockets and blasting off into space, but a development update posted on YouTube underscores how it will at least be easier to understand how to properly use the tools in the game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl

The wildly popular Stalker series is finally getting a much-needed sequel and fans like niflheimm99 are excited to be including “Stalker 2” in their list of anticipated games. In the same thread, Yellow_XIII warns that "Stalker 2 better be freaking good" as the first one was so beloved by critics and fans alike. The brutal combat in The Zone will include new terrifying mutants set in an even darker irradiated world.

While the game was first announced back in 2010, the Xbox and Bethesda Games E3 2021 showcase has confirmed that it is finally launching on April 28, 2022. The sequel will only be available for PC and Xbox s upon its initial release.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Fans have been patiently waiting for another Lego title since The Force Awakens was released back in 2016, and Redditor Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga comes out.

An in-depth look at what players can expect was showcased during Gamescom 2021 where fans learned that the Skywalker Saga will be portraying the mainline Star Wars movies in an endearing Lego form. The same event disclosed the unspecific release date as “Spring 2022” for PC and all major consoles.

Stray

Stray will be added to the growing number of titles that let gamers play as cats and Redditor happinass its that they “love the concept.” Fellow GENERALROSE agrees by stating that "everybody wants to be a cat!" When a helpless feline is separated from its family and thrust into an unforgiving and unfamiliar world, it’s up to players and an adorable robot companion to help the feline navigate the dangerous streets.

With its stunning visuals and unique premise, it’s likely going to be a popular title when it’s released sometime in early 2022. If it's anything like the gameplay featured in a YouTube video from the developers, fans can start hopping from one building to another in a gorgeous urban setting soon enough when it comes out for PC, PS4, and PS5.

Starfield

There’s a ton of hype surrounding Bethesda’s original RPG, Starfield, and most fans probably share Bluenosedcoop’s sentiment about “hoping” the game “will be good.” Based on a short trailer presented during E3 2021, Starfield will be set in space where an astronaut finds a “key to unlocking everything.”

Not much is known about the actual gameplay, plot, or combat, so fans can only continue to speculate and wait for more announcements before it launches on November 11, 2022. It will only be available for PC and Xbox as part of Game on day one.

God Of War Ragnarök

The Redditor GoW Ragnarök will hopefully answer the burning questions fans still have about Kratos and Atreus’ next steps after their epic journey to Jotunheim.

Although it was originally supposed to come out towards the end of 2021, an announcement made during the Sony PlayStation Showcase back in September confirmed that it will be delayed to sometime in 2022 for both PS4 and PS5 s. The game promises to expand the scope of the original and include more characters from Norse mythology.

Horizon Forbidden West

Adding to a thread about highly-anticipated games, Horizon Zero Dawn, is expected to bring Aloy to the mysterious West where new enemies, a frightening blight, and even an accessible underwater environment await.

An announcement during Gamescom 2021 details how while the game was originally set to come out this year, “the global pandemic” has caused unavoidable delays for the developers. Players can jump into Aloy’s post-apocalyptic world when the game launches on February 18, 2022 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
