The Vivo X Note is a flagship Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra. Vivo is actually a close partner of Samsung, being one of the few brands that has launched phones with Exynos chipsets. Its most-recent Exynos-powered smartphone is the 2021 Vivo X60 (China variant) which is powered by the Exynos 1080. Interestingly, Samsung hasn't launched a phone with this chipset yet.

Vivo may not be popular in North America but it has showcased some of its innovative products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. In 2018, Vivo demoed the world's first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner, a feature that has now become a standard on many phones. The following year, it showed off a concept phone that had no ports or buttons. The phone, which was called the Vivo APEX 2019, also had an in-display fingerprint scanner that covered almost the entirety of the display.

The IP68 dust and water-resistance rating, just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Vivo X Note's 7-inch display is a Samsung E5 LTPO with 3,080 x 1,440 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 6.8-inch 120Hz screen with a resolution of 3,880 × 1,440. Despite its bigger size, Vivo's phone is the slimmer and lighter one, weighing 216 grams (221 grams for the black variant) compared to the S22 Ultra's 228 grams.

Vivo X Note Vs. Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Vivo X Note has a faux-leather back

Both phones have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor (record in 4K at 60fps. On the other hand, the Vivo X Note has a 50MP f/1.57 primary sensor, an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 60x Super Zoom, a 12MP professional portrait camera with a 47mm focal length, and a 48MP 114-degree ultra-wide camera which is the only sensor that lacks OIS. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit.

Both Samsung and Vivo have adopted an in-display fingerprint scanner but Vivo claims the scanning area is larger on its phone and also capable of scanning wet hands. There is also for dual-fingerprint scanning but this is limited to some apps. Despite their different sizes, the battery capacity is the same on both phones at 5,000mAh. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra only s 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, while the Vivo X Note trumps this with its 80W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also s 10W reverse wireless charging which is faster than the 4.5W the S22 Ultra is capable of.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has some added features such as a built-in S-Pen stylus, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and Samsung DeX. Despite its name, the Vivo X Note doesn't have stylus but it has a physical mute switch like the Alert Slider on OnePlus phones, and an incognito mode that deactivates the cameras, microphones, and GPS when activated. It also comes with an 80W power brick, unlike the S22 Ultra which doesn't ship with a power adapter. The two phones run Android 12 but with different custom skins.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra's cameras with up to 100x zoom, built-in S-Pen, DeX, UWB, and longer software give it an edge over Vivo's flagship. However, the Vivo X Note also has great cameras (at least on paper), super-fast wired and wireless charging with a bundled charger, and a design that's not generic. Plus, it costs less, with a starting price of ¥5,999 (about $942) for the 8GB + 256GB version and ¥6,999 (about $1099) for the highest configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. In contrast, the S22 Ultra starts at $1,199 for the 8GB + 128GB version, $1,299 for the 12GB + 256GB version, $1,399 for the 12GB + 512GB version, and $1,599 for the 12GB + 1TB version. It is also available globally, unlike the Vivo X Note which is only available in China for now.
