After what they've endured in the wasteland, are Darak and Solila now destined to walk separate paths? Where Solila goes now, Darak cannot follow...or can he? What will Springer's final fate be? And what are the Quintessons planning now?

In addition, the preview sees Dulin and Zalilak, the leaders of Zertonia and Aggoria, respectively, meeting in secret to discuss the situation between Darak and Solila. The secret meeting is intriguing, as readers have already learned that the leaders of Zertonia and Aggoria have been working behind-the-scenes to preserve the status quo of their war over the dwindling resources of the Sacred Ring.

Will Springer Meet His “Final Fate” in Void Rivals #12?

Springer has proven to be a valuable ally to Darak and Solila in recent issues of Void Rivals, not only helping them in battle, but also revealing parts of their biology are Cybertronian in origin. Springer was also able to heal Solila after a particularly brutal battle by giving her some Energon via the jewel on her forehead, revealed to be an “Energon Port.” These revelations have proven to be game-changers for the inhabitants of the Sacred Ring, as the sole Zertonian soldier that Darak let go in the previous issue returns in the preview to Void Rivals #12, setting up the introduction of Energon.

"Whatever “final fate” may be in store for the Autobot triple-changer, Void Rivals will continue to be a big part of the Energon Universe, with the arrival of Hot Rod to the cast and the coming arrival of Pythona and Cobra-La to the Sacred Ring."

Given all these revelations, it’s clear that Void Rivals is tied more deeply into Transformers lore than many readers may have initially thought. The reveal that the Cybertronian Zerta-Trion is tied to the Sacred Ring furthers the connections to Transformers lore, and will continue to be more relevant as the series goes on. Although, from the sounds of the synopsis, Springer may not be hanging around for many more issues. Whatever “final fate” may be in store for the Autobot triple-changer, Void Rivals will continue to be a big part of the Energon Universe, with the arrival of Hot Rod to the cast and the coming arrival of Pythona and Cobra-La to the Sacred Ring.

Void Rivals Continues to Add to Classic Transformers Lore

All these story threads seem to be building up to the Energon Universe’s first major crossover between all the various titles. There are certainly enough stories building in the other titles. Megatron is still out in the world after breaking free from Cobra-La, and the bridge opened between Cybertron and Earth has been causing havoc over in the pages of Transformers, so there are several ways the story could still go in the future. Void Rivals kicked off the Energon Universe with the surprise appearance of a Transformer at the end of its first issue, and it appears it will continue to be an important book moving forward.

Void Rivals #12 is on sale August 28th from Skybound Entertainment.
