A new exclusive clip from Season 3 consists of seven episodes and is streaming now, while season 4 will premiere in October.
The same voice cast return once again for Voltron: Legendary Defender season 3, including; Josh Keaton as Shiro; Tyler Labine as Hunk; Jeremy Shada as Lance; Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge; Kimberly Brooks as Allura; Rhys Darby as Coran; Steven Yeun as Keith; A.J. Locascio as Prince Lotor, and Neil Kaplan as Emperor Zarkon.
Our exclusive season 3 clips focuses on the battle that the Paladins find themselves locked in with the Generals. This time around, the Paladins have Princess Allura by their side and though Lotor's Generals put up a good fight, ultimately the Paladins have the strength and confidence needed to overcome them. Still, after the defeat of his father at the end of season 2, it's a safe bet that Prince Lotor will be doing all he can to ensure his troops keep fighting back just as hard; the heir to the Galra Empire won't give up easily.
As well as Lotor's Generals, the Paladins face a whole host of other challenges this season, not least their inability to utilize their giant robot protector. Fans will recall that at the end of season 2, after their big win against the bad guys, Shiro, pilot of the Black Lion, had disappeared. Therefore, the protector cannot form and the Paladins must get used to using only their Lions for defense. Some creative strategy will be needed, and fast, if they're to have any hope of staying on top of Lotor and his Generals.
The absence of Shiro will be keenly felt by the rest of the team, with co-producer Lauren Montgomery explaining:
"Everyone feels vulnerable; they don’t feel like there’s any one person they can count on, so they’re each going to step up in a way to fill that void and just move forward as characters and kind of leave a little bit of the goofy shenanigans behind and take things a little more seriously.”
However, that also opens up the opportunity for the team to all step up their game, in order to collectively fill the void that Shiro has left behind. There's also the chance for someone else to take up the leader mantle and, if Voltron continues to follow the arc of the original series, we could see Keith take this role on, with the added possibility of Princess Allura taking the vacant spot on the team.
