Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 2!characters in Dead City, especially Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who still hasn't fully recovered from what happened. This remains a core part of the divide between her and Negan, something Hershel doesn't fully understand because he never met his father.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Kim pitched the idea that Glenn could return in The Walking Dead: Dead City either in a flashback or as a ghost. While the actor is unsure of the latter idea, since Hershel never met him, he does believe it would be interesting to physically bring him back to the series. He also discussed how much he enjoys playing Hershel, given he and the character aren't that much alike. Check out what Kim had to say below:
Well, we could see maybe a flashback of Glenn, or maybe bring on the ghost of Glenn! Something like that would be cool. I don't know. Hershel's never really seen him, so I don't know if he'd actually know what his dad looks like in that moment.
But I would be so happy to play Hershel forever. He's so fun to play. I really like playing somebody that I'm not like at all. It's a lot of fun to tap into somebody that's not super easy to connect with immediately. I had to discover that way of acting him out.
What Kim's Pitch About Glenn's Return Would Mean For Dead City
It Would Be Interesting To See Him Make An Appearance
The closest the Maggie and Negan-led spinoff has come to showing Glenn's return are clips taken from The Walking Dead season 7 during the nightmares Maggie has in season 1. However, his death continues to hover over the events of the show. As for his son, Hershel betrayed Maggie in Dead City season 2, episode 2, starting a fire signaling to the Dama (Lisa Emery) that New Babylon's forces were coming to the island.

Glenn & Maggie's Son Was Awful In The Walking Dead's Comics, But The TV Show Makes Him Even Worse
After having a villainous run in the comic book series, Dead City season 2 is setting up Hershel for an even worse role in the TV universe.
It's a decision indicating he won't be following in his father's more benevolent footsteps. As for Glenn's possible return, it doesn't seem like Dead City season 2 will feature Yeun coming back. The actor is also busy with a multitude of projects, such as voicing Mark Grayson in Invincible and starring in the Netflix crime thriller RIP later this year.
Even so, the series showing a flashback between him and Maggie, or having Hershel try to visualize him based on his mother's stories, could have a strong emotional impact. This could be especially important because it's unclear what sides the mother and son will fall on once season 2 ends.
Our Take On Whether Glenn Should Come Back In The Walking Dead: Dead City
It Would Make For A Powerful Scene, Even If It Was Brief
Glenn showing up again in The Walking Dead: Dead City would be a perfect way to bring the story of the spinoff full circle, especially if he appears at a time of great uncertainty. While it would make more sense for Maggie to see him in spirit or have a flashback, seeing him interact with Hershel would also be an interesting approach. Kim's idea feels like it could be a perfect moment for either character during a key moment of the show, while also delivering on the return of one of the show's most beloved survivors.
