Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 6!The Walking Dead chief content officer Scott Gimple has addressed Laurent's involvement in Daryl Dixon season 2 ended with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) successfully getting Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) out of , with him flying to America alongside Ash (Manish Dayal). The goal in season 3, now is for the main duo to also get back home, last seen walking through the Chunnel from to England in hopes of finding safe age.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Gimple indicated that he is working on the idea of seeing Laurent in America when he appears again, potentially during Daryl Dixon. While the chief content officer didn't specify whether he would come back in season 3, he praised Puech Scigliuzzi for his performance and dedication to the character, wanting to bring him back, especially because of his importance for Daryl. Check out what Gimple had to say below:

I got a text from Louis [Puech Scigliuzzi] all but asking the same question. He's actually much more polite than that. He was just checking in.

It's a garden of forking paths. There are different things I've been working on, and I have absolutely played with how Laurent might fit within those things in America.

You have all these pivot points. Like, oh, if we're doing this, we can't do that. Or if we stop doing this, we can't do this. Or what do we need here? And who's available then? But yeah, he's absolutely in mind. Louis is terrific, Laurent was wonderful. And such a great character to bring different things out of Daryl. I am a fan.

What Scott Gimple's Statement Means For Laurent's Future In The Walking Dead

His Reunion With Daryl Seems All But Guaranteed

Ever since season 1, Laurent has been a driving force for Daryl when he was unsure whether he wanted to stay in or go back home to America. Following the conflict with both the Pouvoir and the Nest, it became clear the boy needed to go overseas for his protection, even if it meant the protagonist needed to stay behind. Even though they've been separated as of Daryl Dixon's season 2 finale, the new goal of the show appears to be their eventual reunion, no matter how long it takes to get there.

locations for Daryl Dixon season 4 are being considered already, meaning the show could see its core pair still not coming home for quite some time. However, because reuniting with Laurent is such an important goal now, it seems reasonable to assume they will see him again, even if it takes a long time.

Our Take On Laurent's Potential Return In Daryl Dixon's Future

He Should Come Back To Bring The Story Full Circle

We believe Laurent has to return at some point in Daryl Dixon's future, especially because he's now a core driving factor in Daryl and Carol finding a way home. While their detour in Spain is bound to offer exciting adventures with plenty of engaging new characters, the boy's connection to its titular hero means he should come back in the future. At the very least, we feel he should reprise his role when the series comes to a close, and the main duo are finally able to make it back to America.

Daryl Dixon season 3 arrives on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
