Could Jadis be plotting against the CRM in Civic Republic Military, taking a near-death Rick along for the helicopter ride.

Pollyanna McIntosh makes her long awaited return in Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2. Six years on, Jadis is now serving as a CRM warrant officer - a lofty position that comes with no small amount of authority. She trained under the nurturing wing of Huck (Jennifer Mallick) and now, seemingly, is a vocal champion of the CRM's sacred mission to restore humanity. But Jadis in World Beyond is a far cry from Jadis in The Walking Dead. Not only is she more villainous than before, but becoming an obedient member of the CRM flock is so out of character for the rebellious, individualistic Jadis, viewers would've sooner put money on Daryl Dixon forming an Alexandrian glee club.

Due to Jadis' personality switch and insistence that Rick Grimes was nothing more than a "ticket" into the CRM, some Walking Dead fans suspect her true loyalty lies elsewhere. Is Jadis a double agent, working her way up the CRM ladder so she can eventually take the villains down from inside? World Beyond season 2 s this theory, as virtually every move Jadis makes benefits the Bennett family one way or another.

Has Jadis Been Helping The Bennetts Since Her Walking Dead Return?

Jadis returned to The Walking Dead in World Beyond season 2, episode 5 and (with a little hindsight) her earliest actions and decisions seem to have helped the good guys more than hindered them.

In episode 6 ("Who Are You?"), Jadis informed Huck that she and her Campus Colony pals were under investigation, subtly giving the Bennett sisters and their allies a vital heads-up. Then, during their conversation in Jadis' office, Huck couldn't have acted more suspiciously - fidgeting, stumbling over her words, asking probing questions, etc. But even now in Walking Dead: World Beyond, Jadis is keeping trust in her old mentor. Either Jadis can't smell the betrayal under her nose (unlikely, given her history), or she knows Huck has turned against the CRM, and is keeping her close to avoid other officers realizing. Jadis could be protecting Huck in World Beyond.

In Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2, episode 7 ("Blood & Lies"), Jadis continued to make calls that secretly benefited the protagonists. She intervened after Silas got caught stealing a truck, letting him and his "strong feet" walk away with just a slap on the wrist. Jadis claimed her leniency was down to Silas' potential as a soldier, but most CRM officers in her position wouldn't be so forgiving. Instead, Jadis might've got Silas off the hook because she knew Hope and Iris would need his physical strength further down the line. The same episode saw Jadis arrest Leo Bennett for stealing a Project V vial, but she made Huck question him. Assuming Jadis knew Huck was anti-CRM at this point, the choice of interrogator might've spared Leo's life. Lastly, Jadis forced Leo to Project V by threatening his daughters. This pushed the scientist into a corner, leaving him no choice but to escape with the other innocent scientists. Was this Jadis' intention all along?

Jadis murders Leo's girlfriend, Dr. Belshaw, for her role in the Project V vial theft, and this too could prove the former Junkyard Queen is a double agent. Despite momentarily siding with the Bennetts, Belshaw ultimately sells her boyfriend out and reaffirms loyalty to the CRM, so it's super suspicious that Jadis executes her anyway. The warrant officer's hidden ploy might've been to remove any scientist capable of continuing Project V. Jadis already coerced Leo into escaping with the other geniuses - by killing Belshaw, the CRM's Project V plans effectively died.

How Jadis Helps The Bennetts Escape In World Beyond Season 2

CRM Scientists in Walking Dead World Beyond

Having already helped the Bennett family from behind the curtain, does Jadis also help everyone escape in Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2, episode 8?

"Returning Point" sees the Bennett escape plan put into action, and though Jadis appears to be playing her part in the cat-and-mouse chase, all her choices "inadvertently" help the good guys wriggle away. Before Jadis and her lieutenant move to arrest Hope and Iris, she helpfully informs Huck, who then has time to radio the sisters and warn them. By the time Jadis arrives, the apartment is empty. Jadis had no official reason to tell Huck what was happening, unless she was banking on giving the siblings a head start.

Jadis then makes two choices which, if she were truly loyal to the CRM, could only be classed as facepalms of the highest order. Firstly, she initiates an evacuation procedure. This allows Leo and the other scientists to blend in with the fleeing crowd, and assemble alongside Hope, Iris and Felix at their designated rendezvous point. Without the entire facility pouring out simultaneously, they would've struggled to gather without raising suspicion. Secondly, Jadis orders a lockdown protocol. Later on, she realizes the escapees were counting on this, and used the lockdown time to tunnel their way free Shawshank-style. Either Jadis has stumbled her way into leadership and is the most incompetent officer in CRM history... or she secretly helped the Bennetts escape, still outwardly appearing to follow standard CRM procedure.

A complication Jadis probably didn't expect is Brody - the infuriating Perimeter council member. He double-crosses Indira and squeals to the CRM about the Bennetts' escape. Suddenly, Jadis' secret plans (assuming the theory holds true) comes under jeopardy thanks to the blithering idiot on her doorstep threatening to ruin everything. Jadis' solution is to leave Brody alone with Huck, who duly shoots the rat at point blank range, allowing Jadis to walk back in like "oh no... what have you done... how terrible." Once again, Jadis is either woefully bad at her job, or an undercover agent.

Why Jadis Would Betray The CRM (& Is She Working With Rick?)

Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis in Walking Dead World Beyond

Based on her beliefs and morals in The Walking Dead, Jadis is far more likely to fight the CRM than follow them. The organization's stuffy, rigid uniformity is the antithesis of everything Jadis once believed in, and after watching her people get slaughtered by Saviors, it feels contradictory for the artist formerly known as Anne to be complicit in mass killings at Omaha and Campus Colony. Jadis is also the perfect Walking Dead character to act as a sleeper agent. In World Beyond, Jadis its her junkyard persona was merely a performance designed to foster a sense of community. Having lived a role for so long, Jadis would be a natural at deceiving the CRM - acting like a loyal subject, but constantly plotting in the shadows.

Jadis almost certainly isn't working alone. She would need other resistance fighters to feed information, otherwise the entire undercover operation would be pointless. This is where Rick Grimes could come in. Last time the pair were spotted in The Walking Dead season 9, Rick and Jadis were on good , with the latter desperate for her friend to survive his grievous wounds. During the time skip, Rick and Jadis might've realized the CRM was bad news and devised a plan to destroy it - Rick leading a resistance from outside, Jadis working as a mole from within. Though Rick might not condone all of his partner's methods (brutally killing Dr. Belshaw and ordering the destruction of Perimeter, for example), his cooperation with Jadis would make an awful lot of sense ahead of The Walking Dead's movie.
