Disney has released a new trailer for WandaVision just one day before its premiere on Disney+, which includes a first look at Emma Caulfield’s mystery character. Caulfield was recently announced to have ed the show’s cast, performing alongside stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Teyonah Parris, Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park, and others. WandaVision will kick off the MCU’s Phase 4 and Marvel’s foray into Disney+ when airing its first two episodes on January 15.

With more MCU Disney+ series on the way later this year, WandaVision will be an interesting first experiment in serialized content for the franchise’s modern era. Part of that experiment is a cast expansion necessary to fill out multiple series. Whether or not those more minor characters could return in future series or MCU theatrical films remains unclear, though it certainly seems possible. The MCU has collected a vast number of characters through its stories so far. Still, that number will only continue to grow with WandaVision, Loki, and The Falcon and Winter Soldier.

A new trailer released to the official WandaVision Twitter shows footage both new and old, raising the already high anticipation on the eve of the series’ premiere. One of the new clips is a very brief glimpse of Emma Caulfield’s still-unnamed character, who seems to one of the mysterious residents of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s conspicuous suburban neighborhood. The exact nature of the world, how much is being manipulated by Wanda’s reality-altering powers, and what role the story plays in the broader MCU are all questions yet to be answered.

Even in a minor role, the inclusion of Caulfield is an exciting development for fans of her past work. Caulfield is most famous for her role as Anya on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a series created by The Avengers and Age of Ultron writer/director Joss Whedon. As is the case with many of the ing cast who’ve been revealed in announcements and trailer footage, Caulfield’s role is a mystery. It will remain one until the mind-bending web of WandaVision begins to untangle.

Fortunately for fans, that untangling will begin very soon. WandaVision will air its two-part premiere on January 15th, with subsequent episodes presumably releasing one at a time every Friday. The model will mirror that of The Mandalorian, save for the extended premiere, for the course of its nine-episode run. Finally, the secrets of WandaVision are about to be revealed.
